LOL! Bush's "top general of Al Qaeda capture" just a flunky!

THE capture of a supposed Al-Qaeda kingpin by Pakistani agents last week was hailed by President George W Bush as “a critical victory in the war on terror”. According to European intelligence experts, however, Abu Faraj al-Libbi was not the terrorists’ third in command, as claimed, but a middle-ranker derided by one source as “among the flotsam and jetsam” of the organisation.

Al-Libbi’s arrest in Pakistan, announced last Wednesday, was described in the United States as “a major breakthrough” in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

Bush called him a “top general” and “a major facilitator and chief planner for the Al- Qaeda network”. Condoleezza Rice, secretary of state, said he was “a very important figure”. Yet the backslapping in Washington and Islamabad has astonished European terrorism experts, who point out that the Libyan was neither on the FBI’s most wanted list, nor on that of the State Department “rewards for justice” programme....

Some believe al-Libbi’s significance has been cynically hyped by two countries that want to distract attention from their lack of progress in capturing Bin Laden, who has now been on the run for almost four years.

6. Given the story I heard of "eyewitness" accounts of capture...

I am not surprised. I recall hearing or reading a story (dont have the link) about how this guy ran into a nearby apt and said... "I am jihad".... and then went to hide in the back room of this apt. Shortly thereafter, the Pakistani police knocked at the door and the owner of the apt pointed to the back room the where the holy fighter al-Libbi was hiding...they arrested him without incident and carried him away.

The point of the story I read being that there was not a "major gun battle" as told by the US. However, my point for this post is this: would a "general" act in such a manner ? I think not. I have been skeptical about the whole account since MSM started talking about it. Call my cynical, but frankly I dont believe a damn thing they say on the Tee Vee.....not any more.

7. Have you ever noticed..........

....whenever they capture another member of Al-Queda, the media almost always reports them as being a "9-11 planner," or another "high-ranking" member of Al-Queda (How many of them ARE there?) and in most cases we later find out that they either had nothing to do with actually planning 9-11 or that they are not part of the upper echelons of Al-Queda that we were led to believe? I don't even pay much attention anymore to the media propaganda..er...I mean reports on the "war on terror."
