Is it time to go underground into fundie churches with recorders?
When I was an estimator, I got called into many of them here in the SE and the posters I saw were absolutely scary in the militant flavor they held.

The Waynesboro BC incident makes me wonder if it would be worth a concentrated effort to see what bile may be coming out of some of these places.

Just wondering.

5. If enough people would become involved, we could put together
an awfully intriguing report no matter if suspicions are right or wrong.

2. Great idea
Maybe report the findings in a comprehensive report to the IRS to determine if some of these "churches" should be losing their tax exempt status.

12. Soiling myself by going in to those places
For what ever reason. I'd have to take a disinfectant shower afterwards.

6. I have a lot of unused and paid for web space I'm not using at the moment
I'd be glad to change the name of it and give access to anyone who would be willing to upload transcripts or mp3's of them.

7. On Sundays before elections, stake them out with cameras
The fundy churches I used to watch printed and distributed
"Voter Guides" which I believe even violates the modified 501 rule changes they are trying to push with HR 235.

And they used to send bus-loads of bots with cameras to Planned Parenthood. Took our pictures as we manned the perimeter of the clinic property to prevent them from harassing young women seeking health care. It was understood they posted the pictures on bulletin boards and church publications (pre-web days). Some of our group had to deal with stalkers after that.

So, yeah, I say infiltrate. The bastards have it coming.

10. The thing is, they probably know that they might be watched during
elections...

I'm thinking while they aren't expecting any attention. That's when the strange might really come out.

9. When I was in college --
we had a Professor who taught a required freshman course (Intro to Mechanical Engineering 101 for Dummies). He also was a fundie preacher man. He looked and preached just like Zell Miller.

So, in the Fall, after we were all safely promoted to Sophomores - we went to his church just to see what it was like.

We all came out of there as staunch Unitarians - seriously. It was just too much.

If you go in and listen - you will either march down that center aisle --- or you will run - not walk - to the nearest Unitarian Church. No middle ground.

21. I don't hink it would be that hard to put the material together.
It would be time consuming if only one person gathered the data.

16. Be careful! Some churches have been infiltrated by alien lizards who are
trying to use up Earth's natural resources until it is a burnt-out cinder. :scared:

If you are trying to expose the alien reptile invasion, I'm all for it! :)

17. This was done back in the early Moral Majority days...
get on their mailing list and attach their "postage paid" card/envelope to a brick and send it back to them. Hours of fun for the whole family.

20. I am seriously thinking about it.
There are more churches here than gas stations...

It would make for a good book in the least.

18. You don't need to go into the churches, Just read their
websites and watch the TV evangelists and listen to the ones on the radio, you get a pretty clear idea where they are coming from and it's scary.

22. Congratulations!
The OP and those who support this proposal have demonstrated their complete grasp and mastery of the techniques of the enemy (neocons, et al.) Why...this...this is EXACTLY what the TIPS program was aiming for.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Pat Robertson...bad. Fred Phelps....bad. Chan Chandler...bad.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

But this proposal puts you right smack dab squarely in their camp.

I'm embarrassed for you.

23. What's wrong with research?
I'm not talking about going in with the idea of picking partial quotes or actions to embarrass, I'm wanting to know if the Westboro BC is an isolated incident or if it's indicative of a trend.

If it were done, it would be done in the spirit of investigative reporting, not for the purposes destroying an individual or organisation.

If you have a problem with that, I don't understand.
