Kevin Francois gave up his lunch break to talk to his mother, but it ended up costing him the rest of the school year.

Francois, a junior at Spencer High School in Columbus, was suspended for disorderly conduct Wednesday after he was told to give up his cell phone at lunch while talking to his mother who is deployed in Iraq, he said.

is largely populated by idiots . . . any teacher with an ounce of common sense, upon hearing that the kid was talking to his mother in Iraq, would have said something like "Oh, okay . . . please wish her well from all of us." . . . instead she decided that he MUST terminate the call, and when he refused, the options were suspension or arrest? . . . idiots! . . .

When my husband was there, I would have quit my job if he called and they said I couldn't talk to him. What the hell is wrong with these people???????

I'm going to keep looking myself, of course, but my research skills get a bit paired down WHEN I'M INSANE WITH RAGE. My school had certain kinds of zero tolerance policilies, too, but exceptions were made when necessary--LIKE IN THE CASE OF FAMILY EMERGENCIES. God. What assholes.

But for some strange reason, I don't want to put it up. It's easy to locate if you Google. The school even has a website. I'm not suggesting anyone send hate mail, just a polite letter or two suggesting the school review cases like this and perhaps try to act more reasonably in the future--for its sake and the sake of the students there.
