North Carolina Church thing could be a tipping point.
Edited on Fri May-06-05 09:10 PM by patcox2
A big tipping point. Its so obviously wrong, even to right-thinking conservatives, and shockingly wrong to liberals, that it could change attitudes.

I am hoping we will, in the future, be comparing this to the "have you no shame senator, at long last, have you no shame" moment that marked the downfall of McCarthyism.

The whole Schiavo affair was close to tipping the balance, this coming on top of that, I hope and pray, may open people's eyes.

1. Heh. Well, except for a few liberals
who seem to think the Dems deserved it and should have left that church years ago. :eyes:

But yes, I know as sickened as I already WAS by things, this was a tipping point for me.

And I emailed several people who are very indifferent politically and it alarmed them greatly!

4. I agree Bouncy
Dems who have no tolerance or understanding of a different culture are not going to help us become the majority party again. (talking about what you mentioned in your first sentence) This situation seems to bring out the worst in some people.

are..I didn't know that people's personal political priorities entered into their 'church' service agenda..

3. I have not heard any buzz about it
It's not like the runaway bride - are people actually talking about it?

5. Olbermann featured it on his show tonight.
It's on quite a few blogs, and Yahoo/AP has picked it up.

7. In the summer of 2000...
...myself and my children went on vacation with my father, his wife, and my siblings. On the drive home, we got into a lengthy poltical debate concerning the upcoming election. They were all Bush supporters, though my siblings no longer are, but during this discussion, I mentioned Enron, Ken Lay, CA Energy Market gouging, the forced crushing of the IT bubble in an attempt to get the tech companies to move from California to Pennsylvania (Tom Ridge) and Texas, Cheney and Bush's seedy ties to Saudi enablers of Wahabbist terrorists, and BushCo's being a bunch of corpofascist flunkies for the religious right.

They scoffed, trying to claim that the religious right had no influence with the Bush administration (both of these particular Republicans are far removed from being "religious conservatives"). I relished the recent conversation in which I rattled off some recent events, and said, "So you still think these 'religious whack-jobs' (his words) have no influence with this administration? Because if you do, you're blind and living in deep denial."

8. I wonder, when they lose their tax exempt status,
will they run crying to Shrub & Co. to ride to their rescue? And then when they don't (can't see how they would touch that with a ten foot pole!), what will happen?

Gotta keep this story kicked until they are forced to comment on it and issue some kind of statement. Then sit back and watch the fun!!!
