Is anyone feeling as hopeless as me these days (re: Bushco)
Scandal fodder after scandal fodder .......

Documented criminal act after documented criminal act ......

Photo op after stunt after pandering action .......

Obvious stupidity in press conferences .......

Yet nothing sticks ....... ab-so-fucking-lutely nothing.

Today there are threads right here in (DU) Rivercity about Jack Abramoff's crap being tied to the White House ..... about a demonstrable timeline to the faking of evidence for the War in Iraq(tm) .......

And even in the face of all this .... and so, so, so much more ......

Nothing.

Not ..... A ..... Fucking ..... Thing.

Just ......

I'm really feeling kinda hopeless today .......

And I miss my country ......

1. yep! We are done without a real media to expose the Lies...
and that isn't going to happen anytime soon. I am looking into Canada myself.

2. He who hath all the media, old (and new) money and military
on his side, maketh all the rules and never shall he get called on it.

Teflon Ron has NOTHING on this simian. Rove learned his lessons from Poppy's days as a one-termer.

3. Yep. Going from crisis to crisis while the media plays gossip stories 24/7
It is really tiring being in the minority of people who knows what is really happening.

4. It's hard not to, that's for sure
I've just accepted the following as fact:

1. With a Republican congress, Bush will never pay for his crimes. We're stuck with him for the full four - nothing will bring him down.

2. If we keep plugging away, we may - and it's a big may, given the corporate media - move public opinion enough to stop at least some of his future atrocities, such as destroying social security or attacking another unarmed third-world country.

Opinion HAS moved enough that it's stopping his "mandate" madness, so we might be able to tie his hands enough to make him the lamest duck in history. That's why we can't give up - we ARE making some progress.

5. There is something to remember:
Thin gruel I know, but try to keep this in mind:

We hear stories well ahead of the MSM curve. Well ahead. The fact is that in the MSM, the reporters may be digging on the story(MAY!!!), but they have to do a lot of digging. They have to get confirmations on the story. They have to work people to get them to talk. They might get stuff back-channeled, but that is not enough, especially in today's editorial and publisher climate.

Recently, we saw Larry Franklin get charged. We knew that he was in that mix back in November. Trust me, there will be more on this story. It smells like that. But these guys have clear professional guidelines that they cannot and will not step away from.

Yeah, it's frustrating, maddening and disheartening, because we see the smoke and know that there is fire. But in a large respect, their hands are tied. But sometimes, that is a good thing, too.

16. Sorry...not buying the MSM explanation.
The MSM has been "protecting" this administration since it's beginning.
Let's see: Cheney's energy policy meeting, missing 9/11 report pages, shuttling Bin Laden family members out of the country, taking the country to war based on lies -- and, information to back up that this administration lied...

That is just off the top of my head. The MSM is lazy and they are afraid of this administration. The American people are not being given the truth about these people; don't count on the MSM to bring it to us.
These so called "journalists" are a f*cking joke. All we get now are talking heads with opinions that they ram down the public's throats.

We all miss "our" country.

Feel good that you have so many friends, nationwide and internationally, you are in the right place and well depression just comes with the territory. We'll make it through some way, at least that what keeps us going.

8. Fascism sucks
Not to be more of a downer, but it's going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets any better, since the media is owned by the government and they can get away with absolutely anything.

9. Not at all - quite the opposite...
Bush**'s approval ratings are at their lowest OF ANY PRESIDENT** SINCE WWII... We've only seen the tip of the Delay scandal... Conyers and others are demanding answers on Bush**'s betrayal of our trust over Iraq... To name a few reasons to be hopeful...

We just need to keep the pressure on folks. Start calling, writing, and acting!

NGU.

12. gotta keep hammering the fuckers
I'm still going myself. Like it or not, I will not stop. Not until they have been exposed and sentenced for their crimes!

Have hope! Things will change with time.

It is depressing as hell, but we the people must defend the Constitution of the United States of America. It is our DUTY as American citizens. Maybe it is not an easy task to continue to fight.

Do we want to be remembered as Chief Joseph? Some of his last words before he died were, "I will fight no more forever" ... and then he died.

13. Yanno .... I do that .........
I call ...... I e-mail ...... I send 'em shit ..... my Senators (both Dem) ...... my Congressman (Dem, too) ..... but what can they really do?

Seriously .... our side controls nothing! Nothing at all. Hell, we don't even have the keys to the toilets anymore ..... gotta go to some Republican page and ask for it.

Yeah, Monkeyboy's numbers are in the dumper ..... but if we can't even get a microphone, we're just banging our heads into the wall.

Look at the yak shows ...... No more "balance" .... just "Right and Righter" ...... Leiberman vs JD Hayworth ..... I mean, what the fuck is THAT?????

11. I share in your frustration. This is what helps to keep me going...
"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream."- MLK,Jr.

My dream is that we will enjoy the liberties and freedoms that we once had throughout our beloved country.

"A nation that is afraid to let its own people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its own people."--JFK

I think that it is important to remember that as much as WE FEAR----THEY FEAR US JUST AS MUCH!

Peace.

15. Praise be to Allah! We have Bloggers!
And the Corporate Media is getting concerned that bloggers are getting the news out, and doing it more accurately and quicker than they are. And obviously, bloggers are reporting on stories the Corporate press does'nt deal with. That is one thing that I think is going right, and we need to remind ourselves about it from time to time.

19. I've been feeling a little frustrated myself lately, but...
Edited on Thu May-05-05 03:08 PM by Independent_Liberal
...we have to keep on keeping on.

I think we will bring them all down. It takes a while, but I have a feeling it will happen.

Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it's not going to.

Too many of us suffer from fear if something doesn't happen now, we're all dead meat. Maybe we're not and whatever it is we're worrying about is just a blessing in disguise.

I know a lot of you think impeachment is a pipe dream, but what if it isn't? You've got to stop taking "ain't happening" for gospel. You never know something until you try.

If we give up now, we let the enemy win. Maybe things have to get a little worse before they get better. It just doesn't get better overnight.

I know it's tough to be patient sometimes, but PLEASE don't give in and be a defeatist.

Try to stay optimistic, but don't be blinded by optimism. Always hang onto your dream. Events may not unfold the way you'd like at first, but, it doesn't mean you have to stop.

20. Me too. Been thinking about it all day. How down-hearted I am.
We can't seem to stop anything...the stupid Real ID act, the bankruptcy bill, the God-awful budget, the extra spending on Iraq destruction, the 'christian' bulls**t, nothing.

I'm in terrible fear that somehow the SS crap will pass. My sense of hopelessness grows daily.
