Abramoff, More Federal Investigations, Ties To Gang-Land Style Murder
"A man in a BMW was driving down a quiet side street after an evening meeting at his Fort Lauderdale office when a car slowed to a stop in front of him. A second car boxed the BMW in from behind, then a dark Mustang appeared from the opposite direction. The Mustang's driver pulled alongside and pumped three hollow-point bullets into the BMW driver's chest.

The dead man was Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, a volatile 51-year-old self-made millionaire, a Greek immigrant who had started as a dishwasher in Canada and ended up in Florida, where he built an empire of restaurants, hotels and cruise ships used for offshore casino gambling. Boulis's slaying, still unsolved four years later, reverberated all the way to Washington. Months earlier he had sold his fleet of casino ships to a partnership that included Republican superlobbyist Jack Abramoff.

~snip~

Not long after Abramoff and his partners bought SunCruz Casinos in September 2000, the venture ran aground after a fistfight between two of the owners, allegations of mob influence, dueling lawsuits and, finally, Boulis's death on Feb. 6, 2001. Now, Abramoff is the target of a federal investigation into whether the casino ship deal involved bank fraud. According to court records, the SunCruz purchase hinged on a fake wire transfer for $23 million intended to persuade lenders to provide financing to Abramoff's group."

2. Delay & Ney of Ohio are waste deep in this
Delay has his ethics investigation coming up, and isn't Ney up for reelection?

8. So dissenters to Iraq policy are leaping off of rooftops?
Soon it will be easier to count those in the administration who are NOT linked to mysterious deaths.

Thanks for the links

6. This reads like something from a Mafia Novel or a Spy Novel...a good
one to print out and read when one has a glass of wine and some time to digest it.

It's even worse that the article is poorly written giving much information but little "context" and "Steno Sue Schmidt" of WaPo is the leading writer...but hey...Steno Sue get's her day in the sun.

Seems to me a bunch of "underlings" and the "internet" gave "Steno Sue" her article...but in typical WaPo Style, these days the article is so disjointed that it reads like "pulp fiction."

Still...it's a good read in a perverted way for those of us who feel we already live in some 60's spy novel and want a diversion....

This will go NOWHERE but we can all "Google" it years from now and say:

"OMG...guess what the "MSM" actually did an article on these criminals...as we are living in poverty and underground and looking for reasons to how we got where we are...because DeLay isn't going to go down no matter how many obscure/poorly written articles with connections that "Steno Sue" and the rest do. We all know who they work for...so they can say: "We DID REPORT THIS...for you "peasants" but YOU never followed through... :puke:

7. Other interesting ties to Washington
From the same story...

"Although the outlines of the tale have become part of South Florida lore, what has not been disclosed are the full details of the alleged fraud at the heart of the transaction and the extent of Abramoff's role -- including his use of contacts with Republican Reps. Tom DeLay (Tex.) and Robert W. Ney (Ohio) and members of their staffs as he worked to land the deal."

12. After 5 years of Bushco, I think I've been pummeled into
the same level of optimism as Koko.

I now think that Nothing, no matter how sleazy or criminal, is ever gonna touch these bastards.

Last Sunday nite it was the big Guckert bomb on Raw Story, about to go off REAL SOON NOW & take the whole Bush cabal with it. I mean, jeez, AWOL, WMD, the latest Blair/Bush manufactured intelligence story, etc., back to the theft of Fl in 2000, even back to the sliming of McCain in SC, these guys get away with whatever they want to do.

I sometimes think it's nothing but an acquired taste for masochism that keeps me even reading threads like this.

10. Gangster-style assassination, now the people may get interested.
YOu've gotta have sex or death, preferably both, to get the public interested in what's really going on. Any runaway brides in this story? :eyes:

On the other hand, linking sex to DeLay is ... well ... ewwwwwwwwwww.
