C-span gave me a big laugh, they promoted a segment of Washington Journal as something like "The insurgency and U.S. troops."
I thought it was going to be someone like a reporter that had just come back from Iraq, or an Iraq expert, or a military analyst that had been in Iraq.
So when I saw the rosy-cheeked Lowry, I thought there must have been a mistake, or a schedule change, or something. But then I realized that he was the one discussing the situation in Iraq.
It was so surreal, because for almost the whole interview, the C-span host was treating Lowry as if he were an Iraq expert, when clearly Lowry knew absolutely NOTHING about Iraq. Obviously the host knew at least ten times as much about Iraq as Lowry, but he pretended that Lowry was some kind of source of knowledge.
With one exception*, the host didn't ask how Lowry knew all of these things he was asserting so strongly, and Lowry didn't come close to explaining where he got his thoughts, he just stated them.
Finally, one great caller, a middle-aged-sounding female, called Lowry "Rich Airhead." :-)
*the exception is that finally the host asked Mr. Airhead if he'd ever been to Iraq, at which point Lowry's face got a little redder and admitted he hadn't, not that that would have been a surprise to anyone. And this basic question might actually have come from a viewer, not from the host himself.
