Watching this FDR movie on HBO is getting me depressed
FDR was a REAL President who truely wanted to help people. Despite his faults, he CARED. And look at what he accomplished.

And now we have this uncaring apathetic snob who couldn't give a shit about anyone but himself and his rich criminal cronies - screw everybody else!

Just look at the difference!

FDR:

Our current "President"

I want a REAL President again!

1. Hopefully the comparison will wake up thousands of people...
maybe even millions.

4. No it wont
because a lot Repubs hate him now. They send out all these e-mails blaming him for WW2 and blah blah blah. Maybe a small few will see the light, but sadly, most will not.

2. FDR can be viewed from 2 perspectives
1) Near-socialist who championed the workers to such an extent to where he was called a "communist" by the bitter corporate structure

2) A corporate pawn who enacted enough reforms to keep capitalism from being overthrown

It's really a 2-side thing.

11. I don't think it's either/or.
FDR was the best of both worlds. If it wasn't for his reforms, capitalism would have been overthrown, yet his strong leadership prevented a coup by the elites.

If not the best president we ever had, he certainly was one of the greatest.

20. Prescott Bush hated him...
In fact, I think that's why shrub is so adamant about phasing out every shred of the New Deal. FDR's first 100 days were spectacular--he had a true mandate. Shrub's first 100 days are teetering on disaster. It's got to be eating him up. But, that's what you get when you insulate yourself from reality. FDRknew, as does any wise leader, that you have to keep people around you that will speak the truth; not simply what you want to hear.

16. Since it's on HBO
it'll be on again. So don't worry. You'll be able to see it. Just check your tv guide or Yahoo on their tv guide.

5. When he said "we lift each other up..."
when he was leaving Warm Springs, I got emotional. The comparison to Bush is depressing.

15. I saw the movie
and it was GREAT! I loved it! I loved how he was with people. It was very heartwarming. He was human but he had strength when needed. I'm very proud to be an FDR democrat. The whole cast did great. I loved it and video taped it.

22. Arent they the roots we need to get back to
I was particularly moved by his transformation from a selfish rich guy to someone who could talk to and truly empathize with the less fotunate (since this was the period where he became less-fortunate himself)

Interesting review here

24. Yep
He learned what it was like and he became more empathetic with people after his time in Georgia. I loved watching the transformation. He always seemed to be pretty nice to people overall and this experience made him the great president he was. That's why he'll always be my number one favorite president.
