NYT Bends Over, Yet Again, For Karl
The "journalist," Mr. Shane, conveniently leaves out and gives passing attention to the fact that dozens have come forward to seriously challenge Bolton's Executive "style" as a bully (great for a diplomat) and the facts, which are even more damaging, that Bolton, as a consistent practice, manipulates intelligence data and officials to bend that "data" toward his neo-con, wingnut needs ...

Never Shy, Bolton Brings a Zeal to the Table
By SCOTT SHANE
Published: May 1, 2005

WASHINGTON, April 30 - In the tumultuous days before John R. Bolton graduated from Yale University in 1970, he and his roommates leaned mattresses against the windows to keep out stray tear gas shells.

The trial of a top Black Panther in New Haven had ignited riots and set off a national uproar. The National Guard patrolled the campus in tanks. A bomb went off at the hockey rink. At commencement, student speakers compared the United States to pre-Nazi Germany and called for an immediate end to the war in Vietnam. But one student sounded a contrarian theme.

"The conservative underground is alive and well here," Mr. Bolton told his classmates and their parents, scorning a handful of hecklers. "If we do not make our influence felt, rest assured we will in the real world."

... what a piece of shameless bullshit puff from Mr. Shane. Just how much did Karl pay for this in quid-pro-quo to Shane and the NYT?

The New York Times, liberal. Yeah. Right.

1. your post makes me wonder, once again, how Rove handles this
stuff. Does he personally call and make threats? Is it done through email?
Will there ever be audio, video or paper evidence of him doing this throttling?

The other day Al Franken played a clip of Limbaugh ranting and raving about someone who sinned against the GOP ... the way OxyRush screamed and berated the person (who wasn't there) - "we're going to shut him out for five years"... on and on with the yelling - made me wonder if we were hearing a version of how Rove, Norquist and all the others deal out threats.

2. latest count is 50 votes - so why should the NYT fight something that will
pass (see the ABCNote this week)

It is not like they have a moral or ethical point of view.

3. I wonder if he threatens people directly or if there is a cut out. I do
remember the we're going to "f**k him like he has never been f**cked before quote. Rove sounded like Tony Soprano and that is how I think he instills fear, mob style. They want to be feared. They are bullies. The thing about bullies is that they really are cowards.
