Fight at the Gas Pump

I'm pumping gas and a middle aged white man in a huge diesel pickup starts to pull around me. I start to cross the parking lot and he doesn't stop for me to walk across. He pulled by my car with about 15 inches to spare, trapping me between my car and his truck. I glared at him and went in to pay. A middle eastern woman followed behind me and commented what a redneck jerk he was. When I went back out I told him he'd almost hit me. He said I should learn to drive and pull closer to the pump. Then the middle eastern woman started in on him and called him a redneck son of a bitch. He kept trying to blame me. He had a W sticker on his truck. I told him he was just like Bush and the Republicans and never took responsibility for anything. Then I asked him if he liked the high price of diesel and to thank Shrub. I drove off and the other woman was still arguing with him.

What is with these angry white men who think they can punish or terrorize you? I'm a thin blonde woman with an Eclipse and he tried to smash me with his giant Chevy truck. :mad:

Not about to take it off. He didn't see it however. The funniest thing was that he had a "These Colors Don't Run" bumper sticker. The ME woman saw it and she kept yelling at him that "Your colors do run, you Redneck Son of a Bitch." Imagine that phrase in a ME accent and you will collapse into giggles. My cool co-workers (including apologetic Bush voters died laughing when I told them) were incredulous. I work on an Army base and this gas station was directly off post across from the gate.

not that that is an excuse. There is a combination of power, with the horsepower and tons of steel that you control, and aggravation, with all the other people you have to look out for.
My general rule is that I never expect people to stop for me, especially if I am walking. Keep the vehicles moving, they are burning precious gas. So I would either have run ahead of him or waited for him to pass.
That doesn't mean I think he should not have stopped. Also, I wonder about the tone with which you told him about his mistake. Did you start as an attack with a loud angry voice "you almost hit me, dickwad!!!" Then you had to bring his politics into it, and the other woman is calling him names. If he was angry to start with, that incident is only going to make him angrier.
Was he trying to punish or terrorize you or just get some gas without acknowledging all of his driving mistakes and character flaws? Both you and the other woman seemed eager to punish him.
Fortunately, that would not happen to me, since I brake for blondes.

I am constantly being tailgated by idiots driving these monster SUVs or pickup trucks, and let me tell you....It's making me frigging VIOLENT. I suppose they think that since their vehicle is larger than mine ( I drive an '88 Camry ) they have the right to ride my bumper or cut me off in traffic. I'm sure you've seen these people driving these butt-ugly things trying to pull out of a side street onto a main road, well, they will LITERALLY pull out right in front of you. Mind you, I'm no grandma behind the wheel ( I do the speed limit or 10-15 higher depending on the presence of police ), but the next time one of these bastards rides my bumper, guess what asshole? I'm slamming on my brakes-fully insured ( uh-huh ).
