1. Have you seen the latest polls?
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 02:12 AM by Maple
Tied. Cons losing ground. And 61% don't want an election.

Jim Prentice started campaigning in Alberta only to discover no one wanted an election...Alberta!

PS. Love your Polar hockey picture btw.

2. The polls I saw today showed
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 02:16 AM by HEyHEY
The Liberals staying at about 27 and the cons at 31. Hopefully Marting can delay the election long enough for the nation to get over the shock of the Scandal.
I'm afraid the 61 per cent means nothing. The Cons know they need to strike while the Iron is hot.
But, what are they thinking? Calling the NDP thing a "Deal with the devil." They're pairing up with the Bloc for Christ's sake.

After an electio,n if they won.. them and the Bloc would be a bloodbath with their fighting. Strange bedfellows in this game eh maple?

3. Good news then
Liberals and Conservatives tied in latest poll
CTV.ca News Staff

A new poll shows that if an election was held today, the Liberals and the Conservatives would be neck-and-neck in the race for national support. The numbers show a boost for the Liberals in the past week, indicating a recovery from bombshell news from the sponsorship inquiry.
*********
The polling was done between April 24 and 27, starting three days after Prime Minister Paul Martin's televised speech last Thursday. That's when he pleaded with Canadians to await the results of the sponsorship inquiry later this year before judging the actions of his government.

Canadians seemed to take kindly to Martin's suggestion. According to the poll, 61 per cent felt Martin's offer to call an election within 30 days of receiving the sponsorship inquiry report was reasonable. Another 33 per cent felt the offer was unreasonable and six per cent said they did not know.

6. Gadzooks...dunno
but Harper is nowhere near a majority government. And a minority one would last 2 weeks as he has no allies.

The numbers now indicate he wouldn't even get a minority.

Bet he's home kicking chairs. :D

5. And 53% of Quebecois are against sovereignty
The Crop poll, which questioned 1,000 Quebec voters between April 14 and April 24, does not translate into full-fledged support for independence for Quebec.

The pollsters found that 47 percent of Quebecers would vote 'yes' to sovereignty for the province, up from 45 percent last month. But 53 percent would vote 'no'.
