why no planting of WMD's?
is anyone else surprised Bush & Co. have not planted WMD's in Iraq? I was convinced they were going to do this.

4. They did...
Back in the early eighties, but then it was a "technology transfer".

Unfortunately for them it seems all of those were destroyed.

But seriously, I don't know if they could, especially now with the smell of blood in the water from this recent scandal. The risks are to high that they would get found out. Let's not forget that the UN had been to virtually everyplace of notice in Iraq and found nothing. For the US to now claim they found weapons at one of these sites would be very suspicious. Supposing they plant along the syrian boarder in some hole in the ground; I think that they have so damaged their credibility that it will gain special scrutiny and be found to have been planted.

Nonetheless they may try, but I would have thought if they were going to do it they would have done it earlier. To do it now would get all the timing wrong and probably just delay the day of reckoning when all their lies have to be accounted for.

5. You can bet your next paycheck
that for the last couple of years Russia, China, France, England, etc. have been flying spy satellites over Iraq watching every little move. If we tried to plant WMDs we would be spotted. With new technology, even cloud cover or darkness is not much of a deterrent for the birds to see through.

6. One theory: to get rid of Tony Blair
He's having tons of trouble over this. You gotta think the Bushies have no love for the Labour Party, and would love Maggie Thatcher's Conservatives back in power.

Also: it's a great excuse to sack CIA Director George Tenet, a Clinton appointee.

7. Fear, arrogance, or incompetence- take your pick
The are either afraid of being caught, arrogant enough to believe they could get by without them, or they've tried, and already have bungled it.

No matter what, each of these traits are hallmarks of their misadministration. So IMHO they are just being consistant.

10. incompetence......good dictators know how to get things done, so
do great presidents who get along with the CIA, so does the Godfather, and lots of common criminals...it's arrogance...that total "my way or the highway" KKKarl rove approach to governing (which is standard for a real mean bully who couldn't even finish college)

bush is a WAR CRIMINAL...send him to the Haig....

8. not surprised..
You couldn't ship in WMDs in the amount Bush said Iraq had without anyone noticing. It's easier for them to just keep saying we'll find the WMDs eventually.

9. Such weapons have signatures
Anything they planted can be traced back to its source, so unless they have a stockpile of weapons from some other country besides the U.S., they couldn't hope to pull it off.

11. friendly fire
I can't remember where this came from, but I did read
somewhere, a story about a team that was sent in to plant
wmd's, but that they were killed be friendly fire.

It sounds funny enough to be true...:)

14. You may have heard it
here:

http://www.khilafah.com/home/category.php?DocumentID=7629&TagID=2

"In a world exclusive, Al Martin Raw.com has published a news story about a Department of Defense whistleblower who has revealed that a US covert operations team had planted “Weapons of Mass Destruction” (WMDs) in Iraq – then “lost” them when the team was killed by so-called “friendly fire.”"

13. It may be happening as we speak...
If they do plant them, it will done with a third party, such as a group of Syrians or Jordanians and they will be captured by friendly forces and reported as Arab forces friendly to Saddam Hussein.

16. The CIA or other intel sure won't do it NOW, after what Bush is pulling..
He had his chance to plant them; there is a thread somewhere that they tried and there were casualties due to friendly fire...so it was not accomplished.

But now, his credibility is so shot that even if intel helped, the people wpould not believe it..

15. Because they can't!
Because they would have to convince the military or the CIA, or whoever to do the deed and they won't do it.

Because there would be a high chance of getting caught: It's hard to fake evidence well enough to fool a serious investigation. It's also hard to keep people from leaking info and documents to the press.

Because anyone who did the deed would have the Bushies by the balls for the rest of time.
