I was terrified. There were some spots where people seemed to have no respect for cyclists. I road on or to the right of the side line (if possible) and there were several times each day when I could have reached out and touched cars going by. If I would have fallen or even swerved a little, I would have been severely injured if not killed. Riding to work was always a high stress event.
9. I should now that it is light on both ends of the day
I have to be at work at 6:30 a.m. in the morning. People aren't used to bicyclists around here and I wouldn't risk pedaling if they couldn't clearly see me. I do worry about my bike getting stolen though as there is no place to chain my bike. My bike communte would probably be 10-15 minutes. When I lived in a different city and didn't have a license, I biked about 30 minutes to work. My husband picked me up from work though because I worked until 11 p.m.
