Should we have a "Bipartisan" aka Cage Match argument forum on DU??
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 02:51 PM by Zynx
This idea just occured to me.

Most sports sites have designated smack boards where rival fans (for example, Kentucky and Louisville) can lay into each other without polluting the main board. The smack board is generally loosely moderated, if at all.

You usually have to break the law to get something pulled.

Would something of similar nature be worthwhile or interesting to have here? And what would be a good name for it? "Troll Pit?" "Elephant Hole?"

3. Point, but I was thinking we could put the trolls and Repugs in this too
Now, they just get banned. It's somehow less than satisfying.

8. NO! enough incivility without encouraging it: also would grow frepr posts
NOt sure exactly what you mean, but best guess is

a FLAME WAR forum. Right?

no good.

We all need practice learning to be civil when discussing politics. Forums as they are now, are good at that.

Second guess is you want a RW vs LW argument forum. I forsee such a forum would be ideal potting soil for our closet freepers to gather and get more screen lines for their rawer arguments. Not good. Bordelag has space here, that is enough IMHO.

Frankly, i dont even like the conflict sports the esteemed OP poster referred to. They are tribal wars, and stir up the passions of love of war. Not healthy for humanity, which has had enough of war. Stockholm Institute for Peace Studies and the UN Peace College in Costa Rica should be how we spend some of our spare time. There are also non-competition sports, based on cooperation... little known tho.

5. It's been suggested many times over the years
and the general feeling has always been that that's what every other political (unmoderated) message forum on the Internet is. No need to duplicate it here, too.
