Surprise! Texas leads nation in citizens with no health insurance!
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=519&e=20&u=/ap/20050427/ap_on_re_us/state_uninsured_rankings

WASHINGTON - Minnesota has the lowest percentage of adults without health insurance of any state and Texas has the highest, according to a study released Wednesday.

The study was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which seeks to promote health coverage for all Americans. It noted that a significant portion of the uninsured in the country are employed.

"There is an old image that people who are uninsured don't work or are on public assistance," said Stuart Schear, a foundation employee. "That's never really been accurate and is completely inaccurate today."

The study uses data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 2003. States with the highest rate of uninsured adults were: Texas, 30.7 percent; Louisiana, 26.4; and New Mexico, 26 percent.

3. I've got a job and no insurance.
They'll pay the bill, sure, but they don't provide the plan, and I can't get accepted because I'm outside their height/weight ratio and have allergies and arthritis. :grr:

5. That's because there is no effective medical treatment for...
...collective imbeciles

AKA: idiots, cretins, morons, changelings, half-wits, retards - people of subnormal intelligence but believe otherwise

6. Link to the actual RWJF study
index page - http://www.rwjf.org/research/researchdetail.jsp?id=1882&ia=132

PDF file - http://www.rwjf.org/files/research/Full_SHADAC.pdf

By my calculations based on this study, assuming 2 adults per household with child and only one child per household with child, there are over 41 million uninsured people (including children) in America. This is quite close to the original figure released by the census bureau in 2003 that the HHS is now trying to shout down. However, it is likely that this is lowballing, so if we figure that about 1/3 of the households as single-parent and assume 2 children per household, the number is closer to 55 million.

Good job, George!

7. Health Insurance
Minnesota has it's own Health Care Plan for people who can't
afford or whose place of employment does not provide it. Your
salary must be within certain guidelines. But the problem here
is, since they elected a republican governor Pwalenty, he has
canceled the program. He is going to use the money, for more
favorable business programs. Isn't it ridiculous that anytime
the average public gets a break a republican screws up the
program to bring more welfare to big business. He won't win a
second term.

9. As bad as these statistics are...
...they do not even take into consideration the number of people who have health insurance, but still can't afford to use it due to high copays, deductibles, and expenses they don't cover.
