Is there an allotment of one Freeper per thread?
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 06:33 AM by Is It Fascism Yet
Has anybody else noticed that in every single thread on DU the moderators have to remove angry comments because no matter what you are talking about in here there seems to be at least one pugnacious freeper troll assigned to every thread? Always one troll who demeans anyone not exhorting the party line, argues against any nonconformist view, or any non Shrub view, always one troll who tries to make himself the censor? Has anyone else noticed how dependable this phenomenon is? You hardly ever see a thread where the moderators have not had to delete some comments for being too supercilious, rude, or even downright hateful. I feel pretty sure these BushCo flunkies are assigned creepers, guardian angels Karl Rove has sent to watch over DU, spy on us and see if they can cause any dissent among us. I swear dealing with BushCo is like hobnobbing with the minions of the devil. Opinions anyone?

1. I just hate that they always get deleted b/f I can read them
Some of the DU responses are so good that I want to see the post that prompted them. Maybe DU could create a compendium of them for our entertainment. Call it "Best Deleted Posts of the Week" or something.

6. Just ignore 'em
Drives them crazy. They can't disrupt unless we let them.

7. I think
they only look at certain groups of threads-don't see trolls in the non-political threads (even though some posts there deal with politics).

Frankly, when I read a post I suspect, I push "alert" and then ignore the post most of the time (hard to do if someone is spreading misinformation about Islam-I feel I have to respond just so others reading the inflammitory post will understand it is full of misinformation).

8. I think we need a LOT more tomb stoned - not just their post removed.
Now that ATA is pretty anonymous, nobody would know - or care. Freepers go a long way toward "poisoning" the atmosphere of DU.

9. Frankly, I'm much more worried about those who advocate violence
or make statements that laud the death of American troops or public figures they don't like. Those are the posts that get the attention of the wrong people.

The obvious disruptors should simply be ignored or play with them, as you like. The agents provocateur, on the other hand, are a real problem that mods and DUers, in general, need to be alert to. If we see a post stating, ____ should be blown up in his bed, or I'm so glad ______ suffered terribly before he died, notify Admin. I do.

10. or even worse, peace at the cost of justice
Slave plantations were not violent unless there was an uprising... and
gosh, uprisings are "violent". So would you rather have injustice?

This over-focus on peace comes at the cost of repressing perhaps the
only mechanism that will end the tyrrany... some people with guns who
actually use them on the right people.

12. Good morning, i'll be your freeper today
:-)

We democrats need to cross the isle and support our president.

Both sides of the isle voted for war, and we should not be cowards and
pull our support now.

Its time we accepted that the federal judges are just an agency of the
legislature, and that they should answer to the majority.

Protecting life is sacred, and that is why we should keep all vegetables
on feeding tubes and all foetuses protected. Between those periods of
birth to vegetable, people can make up their own minds.

Did you see how cheap underwear is at Walmart. Its time we just
accepted that walmart is the future.

Bankrupt people need to pay their debts, or the values of our society
will fall apart.

:-)

How 'm I doin'? Are you angry and divided yet?

:-)

5. Wallyworld is bad for America.
6. Bankrupt people need fairs laws, not slavery laws.

done for them lately? I don't get it, why would there be any one single American still wanting to support the Chimp liar and the Big Dick war profiteer? Who could it be? Who does he help? Only billioinairs, do you think all these freepo flunkies are billionaires and saudi princes?

16. I've always said that they make up nearly 10% of the population.
Some are too eager to disrupt and don't last long. Some lay low for months and years. Some pose as radical leftists to make us look extreme and silly. A few have thousands of posts and stir us up in very subtle ways.

At least one was made a moderator once.

We don't take prisoners in Bartcop's forum:

18. I've noticed quite a few posters lately who have 2 year old join dates
And only a handful (well, a relative handful) of posts. I haven't alerted on any of them, because for the most part it's just this subtle 'something's not quite right here kind of stuff.'

Oh well ... it must be a whiff of desperation. They know the end is near.

25. Odd definition of "Freeper"....
"Always one troll who demeans anyone not exhorting the party line, argues against any nonconformist view, or any non Shrub view, always one troll who tries to make himself the censor?" Actually, quite a few trolls become really angry about what they consider censorship here; they go on about the "DU echo chamber."

Not all assholes are Freepers. And sometimes they do work in pairs. However, "tag team" is a better description than "circle jerk"--as I discovered by having a post deleted.

26. Freepers are obsessed with DU.
Now, granted, some of us are obsessed with Freepers. But I do believe Freepers are jealous of this terrific board, because it is (on the whole) extremely intelligent, very readable, and tremendously witty. Not to mention well-moderated. It kills them!

And who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if they had an organized plan to disrupt. Whatever. I hardly notice them. There's so much good stuff here, I find it easy to skim over the dumb or disruptive remarks.
