Rummy: It does not take a genius to go out and kill... perfectly doable
from the Pentagon press conference Tuesday....

"And it does not take a genius to go out and kill innocent men, women and children. That's a perfectly doable thing in a society."

besides being a creepy comment, there's a lot of irony in that statement coming from Rummy.

1. The implications
behind his statement are FRIGHTENING. It scares me to wonder what he truly means. Does he consider those who think like him enlightened and therefore justified in their actions ? Or does it mean he accepts his mental limitations, and realize that those opposed to him are willing to take any and all steps to stop him and his ilk ?

Either are a very dire sentence to wish (however lightly) upon our nation.

3. Truly disturbing.
What he is saying is that incidental casualties are acceptable. I'm sure that keeping the body counts away from the press are part of a very calculated formula in Rummy's philosophy. He must know that once they get too high, no one can stop the backlash of outrage which would come from world opinion. I certainly don't expect stingy, greedy Republican-minded America to be the first on the block to be shocked by the kills.

14. You may already know this. After meeting Rumsfeld in the Oval Office,
Nixon( this guy has a long criminal history) said to Haldeman "Get this guy out of my sight. He creeps me out!". LOL! Anyone who can creep Nixon out bears watching.

7. "perfectly doable thing in a society"?
What freaking society? The Society for the Welfare of Mass Murderers? Is this now going to be a criminal defense? "Well your honor, it was a perfetly doable thing to shoot his mother-in-law." Or is this another form of judicial intimidation?

When will enough of us be pissed enough to do something about these monsters?

It actually takes a form of brainwashing for most people to go out and take a life.

In the interim between WWI and WWII, the brains at the Pentagon were troubled. It seems that there was a problem, that of ammo being wasted, and the ratio of hits to misses was quite low. The Pentagon folks got their best sociologists and psychologists on the case, feeding in data from the Civil War, foreign wars etc. The conclusion that they came to is that there is an inherent tendency in a normal man NOT to kill his fellow man. They found that soldiers would shoot high and wide, shoot low, or not shoot at all in order to not kill their fellow man. The ratio was well over fifty percent, and something had to be done.

So they instituted a brainwashing program, one designed to strip a recruits psyche bare, tear down all of his inhibitions, and rebuild him from the bottom up to be a lean, mean, fighting machine. The program that they instituted in the mid '30s now goes by the name of Basic Training.

And this doesn't just apply to US forces. Every modern military force, including terrorists, now have a form of Basic Training, where your instintual loathing to kill your fellow man is stripped away, and where your psyche is remade into a form more suitable for combat.

It is interesting that we label civilians who have no compunctions about killing as sociopaths. In the military, we deliberately create sociopaths, send them into combat, and when the war is over, dump the soldiers back into society with little support, and little counseling to reverse the effects of their initial brainwashing. No wonder so many of our vetrans have so many problems.

I don't write this as a knock against our vetrans, they provide an invaluable service. I write this to simply inform people of the atrocities our government commits on our citizens everyday.

...and he is in the business of killing people, this is a revealing comment.

It reflects the chauvinistic frustration of not being able to defeat what he considers to be an inferior people.

This was a common theme throughout the Vietnam war.

What it really means is that any organized enemy with a plan can tie down a two hundred thousand man force, inflict casualties at will, and drain the imperial treasure and manpower pool.

The end result, the secretary of defense is a pompous fool who will have to write memoirs about his diastrous military exploits.

13. Changed targets.
The Military found that recruits shooting at targets that didn't have the shape of humans was not effective so they changed the targets to appear more human like. The kill ratio went up.
