Daily polls - great new feature on Edwards blog
I went to the Edwards blog today and they have a great new feature. You can go there and link to all the online polls daily. It makes it really easy to vote and not let these polls get freeped.
Bookmark the page, and let them know if you find a poll that is not listed.

1. Please let us know if this is a useful service
It is pretty labor intensive to find new polls daily, but I remember how useful it was to have all the poll links gathered for me on DU. The One America Committee is trying to provide the same service when it is not election season.
You can go every day and link to online polls on a variety of topics. Let us know whether this is useful to you.

3. Elizabeth Edwards?
THE Elizabeth Edwards?

I hope you are doing well!

I've been an Edwards supporter since the primaries. It's great to see the OAC blog back up and running.

6. Thanks. I am doing well.
Thanks for the good wishes and thanks for the support.
And we do mean it about getting feedback about this feature. Good or bad or offers to help. Whatever. That's the way the blog becomes truly a working tool for action.

7. Hey Elizabeth.... So GOOD to hear you're doing well...
You've been in my thoughts and prayers. I am so thrilled to see you here and know that you're coming along. I, too, am an oldtime supporter of John's from the old JRE blog. Good to hear John's voice still out there, too. Love the podcast. I will go check out the poll feature as well. It sounds great...

All the best to you and your family!!! :hi:

16. Hey, why didn't Cate E. like the tax reform speech at The New School?
(...which I heard John E. say on the second OneAmerica podcast.)

I thought that was one of the best speeches I've heard since this one: http://www.commonwealthclub.org/archive/03/03-12edwards-audio.html.

8. Hi Elizabeth! I think polls play a role
They help shape public opinion as well as reflect it.

It's nice to have several of them all in one place on your website.

How are the podcasts going?

I think they're terrific. They're also the future.

:)

17. Glad to see you back here posting and that you're doing well
Polls are great - good that you'll have them in one space. Wouldn't it also be good for the technosavvy out here in DUland (or wherever) to come up with our own open-source polls, since elections are broken and fixing them looks grim? (As a redistricted Rush Holt constituent, I've followed both of his bills closely).

It's heartbreaking, but -- beaufiful spring weather has brought some relief. Also, the Cons have overreached and it's reassuring to think that their hoodwinked followers might finally see them for the liars, manipulators and cheaters that they are. I was electrified tonight by a packed panel with Jim Wallis and Cornel West at Princeton. Ths diverse tent of faithful that Jim Wallis is building with his 'alter calls' on his book tour' will Invite the faithful into the conversation about poverty and other moral issues that he's heard calling during his tour. With good polling technology, and people like Jim Wallis stirring up the faithful we could come together to solve moral issues, like poverty, in a totally democratic way.

A collaboration of social justice groups used a program called Synanim
http://www.fvcommunity.org/beloved/synanim?PHPSESSID=e87f7708e6b7e41fc03c657c82c7ed07
to enable a write-in campaign that produced a statement of 'beloved community'. It was presented at Riverside Church on April 4th - the anniversary of one of MLKs anti-war speech and death a year later.

I feel swindled out of the leadership that, I believe, the majority of voters chose on election day and deserve -- but, I also know that we need to find new ways to be a democracy. It's fun being part of the change and I appreciate the brilliance and leadership of your husband and John Kerry. I do hope that they realize they probably won the election even if it's dangerous to just come out and say it right now. Everywhere I go in NJ, the K/E stickers are still on cars. I hope that we can all work together to pull through this difficult time and to make this the best time our country has ever seen.

Thanks for popping in for a visit to share this good idea about polling.

19. We would appreciate your consideration of MNA, May 2 2005 ...

Two recent DU threads contain a variety of responses from the DU community:

Everyone 'owns' MissionNOTAccomplished. May 2 2005 is just a beginning; our mission is far from accomplished.

Thank you, and my wife and I have had you in our thoughts since we learned of your illness. You are an inspiring leader.

20. Interesting Elizabeth Edwards.
I didn't know that you all had recently opened up to the idea of online blogging.

Please, if you ever get the time or incentive, look at John Conyer's amazing blog and the service he is doing for the people.

http://www.conyersblog.us

It opens up a whole new freedom to being able to get the truth out there, and gives one the ability to speak about things such as true electoral reform.

Sincerest regards,

18. Thanks and hi to Elizabeth Edwards!
I'm an Edwards constituent and I sure do miss you guys. I've got a burr under my sadle now and it feels pretty depressing when I go to write my senators and know there is no hope, since they are both on the dole from the GOP, so to speak.

Hope you are both doing well, and thanks for waging one of the most courageous presidential races ever, in light of what we were all up against that we didn't full understand.

28. Senator Edwards joins ACORN in the fight to increase minimum wage
snips:

http://blog.oneamericacommittee.com/article.pl?sid=05/04/27/1940258&mode=nested&tid=1&threshold=-1

In a country of our wealth, it is wrong for someone to work full time and still not be able to make ends meet. A job should be a bridge out of poverty - an opportunity to achieve the American Dream. But for America's minimum wage workers, especially those with families, it is not.

Minimum wage workers make just under $11,000 annually - about $5,000 below the poverty line for a single mother with two children. We must do better.

The last increase came in the mid 1990s and since then, inflation has completely wiped out its impact. Although the American people overwhelmingly support raising the federal minimum wage, the Bush Administration and Republican Congressional leaders continue to block attempts to increase the federal minimum wage of $5.15 an hour. America's workers deserve better, and that's why I am proud to join ACORN to work for change in targeted states.

Together, ACORN, labor unions, other grassroots organizations, and I will work to create an America that rewards work, not wealth. ACORN has already begun working with community organizations and labor allies to place minimum wage increases on the ballot in some targeted states in 2006. Last year, ACORN led the successful campaign to raise the minimum wage in Florida by $1.00 an hour. I am honored to join ACORN in this important fight.
