'Sextravaganza' Spurs Controversy At Virginia College
Controversial Health Fair Planned At George Mason University

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Organizers say "Sextravaganza," a controversial health fair that will take place Monday at George Mason University, in Fairfax, Va., will raise awareness about such issues as safe sex, date rape and sexual health. However, the one-day event sponsored by the Pro-Choice Patriots student group has sparked controversy.

Student organizer Amanda Agan told WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., "We're really just trying to educate students and arm them with all the tools so they can make an informed decision about sex. We really have no political agenda at all. We have all sides represented."

But Virginia State Sen. Ken Cuccinelli disagreed. "They're pushing a pro-sex agenda and an anything-goes agenda," Cuccinelli said. "And that's what this Sextravaganza is all about."

<snip>

"You can't have safe homosexual sex. There is no such thing and yet one of the sponsoring groups is the homosexual group on campus," he said.

But many students said they want to be better informed. One student said "I just think it's kind of ridiculous to think that you could be anti health fair, that's kind of goofy."

<snip>

:wtf:

To play devil's advocate, if he wouldn't have singled out gay sex one could argue that there is no such thing as safe sex, only safer sex. But he didn't do that. Instead, he decided that latex condoms disintegrate the moment they hit man ass. Surely because their souls will burn in eternal hellfire for their sinful ways /sarcasm.

*scream*

I like that student comment - yes, it IS kinda goofy isn't it.

The article doesn't note it, but I'm sure it will shock everyone that Senator Cuccinelli is a Republican.

1. He should meet my boyfriend.
Who is negative after 15 years of a healthy sex life with me (who is positive).

9. Just good safer sexual practices.
And any more detail might be considered "fun" and as you know, the fun is over! :D

10. It's not unheard of.
Condoms are very effective if used properly.

And I realize this is not the same as passing a sexually transmitted disease since there are only certain times of the month that a woman can get pregnant, but my husband and I have exclusively used condoms (I deplore the pill) for over 7 years and I haven't gotten pregnant yet. We're not sterile either, we have two children already. :)

3. Tee-hee! Republicans haven't discovered lesbians yet....
Notice that they are extremely fixated on two men getting it on, but for women, the slur is about acting "unfeminine" rather than the sex act.

4. "They're pushing a pro-sex agenda"
How outrageous. Everyone knows that college students the world over are firmly anti sex of any kind. These people pushing their pro sex agenda ought to have their funding cut.

12. Yeah, I bet these college-aged adults had never even HEARD of sex
before this dreadfully sinful health fair rolled into town.

7. Well, some latex condoms DO disintegrate in that situation
But ya know, Ken, if you'd quit buying the expired five-cent Chinese condoms out of the bargain bin, and if you'd quit storing them in the trunk of your car, maybe they WOULDN'T disintegrate the moment they hit man ass.

Why do we keep having to tell these people EVERYTHING?

8. Apparently, this guy has never heard of lesbians
The lesbian community has lower rates of STDs than even the heterosexual community. So clearly, lesbians are the chosen people and lesbian sex is God's plan for keeping free of disease.
