31. It is hard, isn't it?
The man in the brown suit believes in a more humane form of execution than the man in blue.

The man in the brown suit has a better tailor than the man in the blue suit--at least the brown-suited man's clothes fit.

The man in the brown suit doesn't believe in starting wars.

Both men's religions believe women's heads should be covered. The brown-suited man, being from the repressive Republic of Saudi Arabia, chooses chador as his faith's preferred head covering. The blue-suited man, being from the repressive Republic of Texas, leans toward big hair and a ton of makeup.

Neither man likes gay people or drug users, but the blue-suited man wishes he could do what the brown-suited man does.

You're right. There really is no difference.

8. On the other hand, perhaps it will play well off emotions
Given that intellectually, we know that men holding hands is a normally accepted fine thing to do for Arabs, and given that we know that the culturally sensitive Mr.bush tries to make his Arab friends feel comfortable, still this could play into off the homophobic emotions of conservatives.

A friendly walk hand-in-hand through the bluebonnets, not a care in the world, while the average consumer is paying through the nose for gasoline.

9/11 hijackers tied to Saudi government, Graham says in book

By Frank Davies, Knight Ridder | September 5, 2004

WASHINGTON -- Two of the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers had a support network in the United States that included agents of the Saudi government, and the Bush administration and FBI blocked a congressional investigation into that relationship, Senator Bob Graham wrote in a book to be released Tuesday.

The discovery of the financial backing of the two hijackers "would draw a direct line between the terrorists and the government of Saudi Arabia, and trigger an attempted coverup by the Bush administration," the Florida Democrat wrote.

And in Graham's book, "Intelligence Matters," obtained by The Miami Herald yesterday, he makes clear that some details of that financial support from Saudi Arabia were in the 27 pages of the congressional inquiry's final report that were blocked from release by the administration, despite the pleas of leaders of both parties on the House and Senate intelligence committees.

27. Freeperville aint too happy about it.....
To: MeanWestTexan
What happens in Crawford, stays in Crawford.
Too late. Now it's on the FreeRepublic.

To: Uncledave
I know it's custom but it creeps me out. President Bush doesn't look too happy about it either. Why must we always accomodate them? Why don't they accomodate us? After all, we RULE!

To: ChicksforConservatives
Good grief. They look like a couple of pansies. Why would our president do this?

To: Uncledave
I've seen W and Arab leaders holding hands numerous times.
Bush is a very tactile man, in a nonclintonian way (i.e., appropriately).

To: Uncledave
At least he's not holding hands with a White House intern.

To: Mr. Mojo
"It's also an Arab custom for men to kiss other men in greeting, but I doubt the President would plant one on Abdullah's cheek. .....at least I hope not."

Yes, he damned sure did. What the hell is this shit?

"Abdullah and his small entourage were nearly a half-hour late, but Bush gave Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler a warm embrace and a kiss on both cheeks in welcome. Bush kept a firm, guiding grip on his guest's hand as they walked up the path, past a field of bluebonnets that the president took care to point out, to a new office building on a corner of the sprawling ranch."

To: Robe
Please tell me that the Arab is old, nearly infirmed, and needed a steady hand to keep him from falling and breaking a hip. I still do not get the kiss. Please tell me it ain't so. I am not needing to think this.

To: damiansatana
That's depressing. I thought that only Arabs, the French, Russians, and a few other cultures did that sort of thing.
....but certainly not Texans.
Can you imagine Ronald Reagan kissing Saudi cheek? Never happened.

To: k2blader
Do the dems take a chance and try to make political capital from this and risk offending the homosexual block, or do they let this one ride? They have made so much about the ties of the Bushes with the Saudis over the years, this might be what they need to demogogue the issue.

To: Mr. Mojo
"Can you imagine Ronald Reagan kissing Saudi cheek? Never happened."
No and President Ronald Reagan never kissed their ass, either!

To: radicalliberty
"Good grief. They look like a couple of pansies. Why would our president do this?
I don't care what type of spin folks want to put on it, two grown-ass men holding hands just doesn't look manly. Not in San Francisco, Saudi or Crawford.

To: Texas Songwriter
The liberal media might pick it up. I hope George knows what hes doing but it made me sick to my stomach just seeing the pictures.

To: Texas Songwriter
Crap, I knew it! Fox News is usually okay, but they still take the dim side sometimes.

To: ekidsohbelaas
Which does this look like? Damn, I need a drink.

To: OldFriend
Is that why he kissed Abdula, too? This just makes me sick.

30. Maybe they're ready for this Lawrence of Arabia quote
"The public women of the rare settlements we encountered in our months of wandering would have been nothing to our numbers, even had their raddled meat been palatable to a man of healthy parts. In horror of such sordid commerce our youths began indifferently to slake one another's few needs in their own clean bodies—a cold convenience that, by comparison, seemed sexless and even pure. Later, some began to justify this sterile process, and swore that friends quivering together in the yielding sand with intimate hot limbs in supreme embrace, found there hidden in the darkness a sensual co-efficient of the mental passion which was welding our souls and spirits in one flaming effort. Several, thirsting to punish appetites they could not wholly prevent, took a savage pride in degrading the body, and offered themself fiercely in any habit which promised physical pain or filth."—from Seven Pillars of Wisdom
