Repuke "Christian" woman PUNKS a little kid:
A few days ago I was washing my car in the car wash area provided by our apartment complex. I little kid pedals up to me on his bike and says, "Excuse me, but my school's doing a thing called 'jump for the heart' and it's for the American Heart Association, and what we're doing is jumping rope for a good cause, and would you sponsor me? I'm jumping rope in honor of my grandfather who died of a heart attack"

Even though I just paid 2400.00 to the IRS (where's my tax cut bush fucker?) I told him to hang on for a sec, as I was nearly done washing my car and I'd give him a check. I get in my car, and he's pedaling the bike behind me, and I park. As I'm getting out of the car, this Repuke drives up to the mailboxes in her huge SUV with a Bush/Cheney '04 sticker and a fish emblem on it and gets out.

The kid approaches her and says, "Excuse me ma'am, but could you spare a little money to donate to my schools program for the American Heart Association, my grandfather died of a heart attack, and I'm jumping rope for him"

Now I'm purposely standing in front of her car smiling at her to see what she says, "I can't right now." and pulls away.

I looked at the kid, and I said, "Why doesn't that rich republican give you any money?
the kid says, "I was thinkin' the same thing"
I said, well, maybe she can't afford to put gas in her SUV, or maybe she spent all her tax cut on bibles...

Anyway, I gave the kid another 5 bucks, and said, "Democrats care about you, and your family, and this country and the whole world! Remember that, Ok?

The kid always says 'hi' to me now, and just today, when I came home from work said the lady turned him down a SECOND TIME!

goodboy

I just wish there was another word to identify these freeps rather than abusing Christ's name by associating it with them.

Pharisee maybe?

No, you have to go by what people say they are. You may not think so...but, then again, they probably don't think you are either.

67. So in the meantime
they are allowed to call us un-Christian or impugn our morals and beliefs.

Just last night I heard a representative of the group sponsoring the religious simulcast against the democrats refer to Roman Catholics as seperate and apart from Christianity. These people are attemting to set themselves up as the sole arbiters of Christianity, morality and Americanism.

I feel comfortable using the name(s) I feel is most descriptive of them from my point of view. A few that come to mind are Pharisee, hypocrite, anti-american, anti-constitutionalists and freepers.

You call then Christian if that makes you happy but please don't put that all-inclusive "WE" in front of your statement, I am not inclined to be that civil to these latter day inquisitioners.

As for this specific situation, this woman is wearing her religion on her sleeve (so to speak) and in my opinion is fair game for being called on the carpet for her unchristianlike behavior.

71. How can you say her behavior is
'unchristianlike' when that's exactly what it is? Or haven't you noticed what christianity has become?

The cries of 'not a REAL TRUE (tm) christian' just doesn't get it. If they say they are christian and this is the right way to act, then so be it...they are christians and that's the way christians act. And others who call themselves christians but don't act that way don't have any right to disavow them.

17. I have another story about good christian women -
The other day I was out running errands with my two female Westies. I pulled into a parking space and went to the back of my station wagon to get an item from the back. An SUV pulled in next to me and parked in the handicap parking space. The parking lot was virtually empty.

The vehicle had several crazy for Christ stickers on it including one that said MARRIAGE = MAN + WOMAN. A 30 something woman and her two little girls were getting out. I noticed that the vehicle did not have a handicap sticker.

The dogs were excited (they love children)and were watching out the windows. I looked at the woman, looked at the dogs and said to them "See girls, thats how Christians act".

The woman looked at me with disdain and walked away. I said in an overly sweet voice "Is that setting a good example for your children ?" She kept walking away (about 25'), then spoke to her little girls, turned around, came back and moved her car.

23. I wouldn't advise confronting Ms. SUV
It's just possible that there's something else going on for her, and she doesn't have the wherewithal to spare, even for a good cause like the American Heart Association. A whole bunch of people, including dummies who voted for Bush and who drive more car than they need, are just one paycheck away from homelessness. And many of those people put up a good front.

Take comfort in the fact that even after sending in $2,400 to the IRS, you still had some left to give to the AHA and a little extra for Ms. SUV besides. You'll be a much better person for it.

25. With all respect (and pardon me for interjecting)....
I would advise confronting her; it's time these folks were called on their hypocrisy.

As the guy that fish symbol on her Family Truckster is supposed to represent said:

St Matthew 23:27-28

27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

If they are going to "make a show" of their religious beliefs, i.e. self-righteous bumperstickers or T-shirts, fish symbols, those silly truth-fish-eating-Darwin-fish thingys, anti-gay marrriage stickers, Focus On The Family paraphenailia, etc. then they are fair game.

26. And what is gained through a confrontation?
She gets defensive, that's practically a given. And let's say she has some difficulty that she hides away from the world, like an alcoholic husband or a dying mother, that saps away not only all her ready and available cash, but her very spirit for living. Just because she voted for Bush and drives a big SUV is no reason to assume that she's in the money.

The fellow behind the fish also said that folks who get angry with a brother or sister without cause risk bringing a worse judgment upon themselves.

But I'm not saying one should yell at the woman, merely ask a rhetorical question or two to make her think. Who knows, it might be just the opportunity to make her lightbulb come on.

Granted, this might not be the exact situation to make her a little uncomfortable. It depends a lot on both people involved.

There's a better way to reach these people.

Why not begin with "you know, this little boy was hurt that you couldn't help him with his cause. It really means a lot to him personally. If you really can't spare $5, would you at least tell him how proud you are that he is trying to help other people?"

It's less confrontational, and still makes the point. :)

35. She has the money to fill the tank on the big SUV ...
without worrying about her hypothetical alcoholic husband ...

She evidently BOUGHT the "W" sticker, and probably contributed to Dobson for the "Marriage =" sticker ...

I'm not willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. So she's in tough times, maybe? Tough shit! She voted for the bastard that has caused most of it, or at minimum (a) profits from it and (b) won't do anything constructive for the middle class, to say nothing of the poor!

I think she could've spared a buck or two for a GOOD cause like this. I would never dictate to anyone what causes they should support, because there are many, but I've got a pretty good idea this "lady" isn't supporting anything but the wingnut line.

36. My Experiences Working At A Christian Bookstore
I used to work at a Christian bookstore during my fundie phase. Anyhow, our store was located next to a grocery store. Also, the area was a hangout for homeless people and transients. They never bothered the people other than to ask for some change. I used to buy $5 grocery gift certificates and I'd give them to homeless people when I saw them so that they could get something to eat. The store manager, on the other hand (a Calvary Chapel guy, for those in the know) used to insult the homeless people all the time and call the police on them for loitering in the parking lot. The manager informed me that if I handed out any more gift certificates, he'd be more than happy to fire me so I could spend all the time I wanted to with "dirty freeloaders".

poor. I mean, who do they think they are? Do they think God wants them to be poor? If they got off their lazy ass, maybe they could participate in the right-wing utopia. There'd be no poor people, cuz they'd all be doctors, and lawyers, and ceo's. Everyone would realize their dreams, so no garbage men, nobody working at mc donalds, no shit slingers, no chimney sweeps, no bums.

Didn't you read your Bible?

Jesus only taught the Beatitudes:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 3)
Blessed are the meek: for they shall posses the land. (Verse 4)
Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse 5)
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. (Verse 6)
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse 7)
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. (Verse 8)
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Verse 9)
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 10)

45. that's pretty sad...seems like the only time conservatives ACTUALLY
conserve, is when it comes to using their money to help other people.

64. "Liberals want the government to put a gun to your head
and redistribute your money to welfare bums. Conservatives see someone suffering and help them out without the government." Yeah right! :puke:

Surely you've heard versions of that phrase from Republicans? I've noticed way too many times that it usually isn't the rich who help out the less fortunate. The less fortunate help out the less fortunate. Go to any charity and see what kinds of people are volunteering after work/school/whatever.

I saw this really poor woman begging outside several different locations like grocery stores, fast food restaurants, and thrift stores. I gave her some spare change and asked why she doesn't go a few blocks over to the business district to ask the rich people? She said those folks rarely give money or even acknowledge her presence. But regular people are way more generous because they usually give something, even if it is just spare change.
