Poll question: Wendy's finger lady charged: would YOU eat there now?
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 04:05 PM by UdoKier
So, it looks as though the litigious lady who claimed to have found a finger in her chili at Wendy's was a con artist.

That being the case, would you go eat at Wendy's?

1. Very vegetarian-unfriendly restaurant.
Not a big fan of fast food anyway.

2. I've always regarded Wendy's as a second-rate fast food restaurant
The finger issue never soured me on Wendy's (I regard these things as isolated cases that really could happen anywhere).

4. And yet the association with Wendy's chili= finger remains strong for some
I used to be terrified for YEARS to eat at McDonald's because of the kangaroo meat thing.

5. I usually don't let anecdotal evidence, however bad, make decisions for me
I ate just as often at Jack In The Box during the E.coli scare as I did before or after the hubbub. I ate at Wendy's just as much during the Great Finger Caper as before the news broke.

I don't get much fast food in general.

But these high-profile stories don't do squat for me. If the specific franchises in my neighborhood aren't affected, I don't really mind the fear and fuss.

10. I've actually eaten at the very one where it happened
In Bremerton, WA. All the time. I figured, hey, you KNOW it's not going to happen there again!!

11. Yeah, that occurred to me too.
If a restaurant is under heavy scrutiny, it's make or break time for the management and staff.

They'll do their best. I'm not saying they'll meet any particular standard of competence or excellence. But they'll surely try harder than at any other time.

6. I eat at Wendy's every month or so
Figured the incident was BS so never stopped.

My daughter manages one so we eat there every once in a while taking advantage of the discount.

13. Hahaha!
Ask anyone who has worked there what goes in the chili....Floor sweepings, spit, hair, phlegm...Bon Apetit! Why people want to eat at a place where squirrely teenagers prepare the "food" is beyond me.

16. Actually, it's recycled cooked hamburger meat
I used to work at a Wendy's joint. It was like working in hell's kitchen because it got really hot due to poor circulation and the fryers and grill putting out so much heat. I used to have to peel the shirt off when I got home.

We'd put uncooked meat on the grill, and fry them up. When they're well done (supposed to be anyway), we serve them. Unfortunately, it's hard to predict traffic. Sometimes we cook too much meat that doesn't sell, so after they've sat on the grill for several minutes and become a little too cooked dry or burnt, we put them in the chili meat bin where the meat is stored until it's minced.

9. There are a few things I like at Wendys...
I like their frozen malt and baked potatoes. And I actually like their chile (sans fingers).

12. I'm not a fast food fan since I come from the last
generation who ate decent cheap food at a diner or lunch counter. But, having been forced to partake of the drive through culture in later decades while on the road, I always found Wendy's to be the one that served the most palatable food, so I doubt if a finger incident would have deterred me. Getting stuff in your food is possible even in a high end restaurtant. I might have avoided the Chili though.

14. After reading Fast Food Nation and then seeing Supersize me 4 months ago
my family has sworn off fast food, i'm really proud of my daughter for sticking with it, she's 10 and was horrified by corporate farming. We try and by as much cage-free and free range stuff as possible.
