Do tell.

I have. When I felt justified.

My best : my bro, sis-in-law & I were on a snorkelling/dive jaunt in the Caymans about 10 years ago. Two vacatioining yuppie women were also on the boat(they were friendly enough, but had an awful lot of makeup on for diving...). On the way back to shore, we all got talking. Where ya from, what do you do, etc. One said "We're lawyers!" (very newly lawyers, obviously). Sis-in-law said "Oh! I'm a paralegal!" to which they responded with a pinchy "I'm looking down on YOU now" look.

That's when I said "I'm a Judge."

Boy Howdy did they get friendly again.

Then my stoopid bro said "And I'm Elvis" and blew it all too hell.

Confess here:

3. Sis-in-law said "Oh! I'm a paralegal!"
The correct response would have been, "A paralegal? That's two legals, right?"

4. Good point! What ticked me off was my sis-in-law is SOOOO GOOD
that the Fed Anti-Trust Unit in S.F. tried HARD to recruit her--an unheard of thing from a group that any paralegal (with a concience) would KILL to join. She only turned 'em down becasue she & Bro were planning a move to Philly.

5. Cute story
too bad about the Elvis comment though :-(

I don't have any GREAT stories, but my dad does. He was walking on a beach in Florida when he noticed some young vacationers with their toddler. The toddler was obviously getting a very bad case of sunburn. My dad, realizing that some people not used to the intensity of the Florida sun can easily get fooled by how quickly they can burn, approached the young couple. He told them that he was a doctor and could see that this child was getting a bad sunburn. He told them to get their child out of the sun ASAP.

The couple said they didn't realize, and would be leaving shortly. My dad continued on his walk. All of a sudden, an elderly lady near the couple collapsed on the beach. The couple said, "oh, there's a doctor on the beach right over there, we just talked with him!"

My dad tried to pretend that he didn't notice the collapsed lady and hurried back to his car....he always wondered if that couple left the beach soon and/or thought about that poor kid suffering with sunburn that night (hoped the lady was okay too, but since he wasn't a doctor, he really couldn't have helped anyway).
