It's Earth Day...what are you doing today?
I know we've had a lot of bad news lately and things are looking bleak for the environment.

But today, I still want to do just one small thing for the environment.

Will you join me?

Some ideas:

-Planting a tree
-Using only recycled products all day
-Purchasing nothing (unless it's organic or recycled)
-Spending some time outdoors to meditate and connect with the earth
-And writing to Congress, of course
-Donating to an environmental cause

Would you like to share what you're doing today?

I hope that working together, we can all make a difference, even if it takes some time.

1. I was going to burn a mountain of tires
that's near my house. It's right by a stream, so I figure I can kill two birds, or rather fish, with one stone.

J/K. I'm just channeling my inner Cheney.

3. I have 4 rose trees and 2 climbing roses I wanted to plant today, BUT
THE FRIGGIN' WEATHER IS NOT COOPERATING WITH ME! In fact...IT'S SUPPOSE TO SNOW MIXED WITH RAIN TONIGHT!!!!!!!^%$#@#$% which means I have to cover all the flowers/plants I already planted. :( I DID plant a new tree on Tuesday. :) :bounce: A weeping pussy willow tree! It's so pretty! :loveya:

I recycle every day.

Happy Earth Day! :hi:

4. It's raining here
So I'll be doing laundry and sitting at the computer between folding.

As soon as it clears up I'm going to try my hand at a little planting though. ("Try" because I have a long history of killer black thumb when it comes to plants.)

Sounds like lots of bad weather today; I hope some people can attend.

I know what you mean about the black thumb, LOL.

14. I purchased 200 Norway Spruce seedlings. Some of which I
have been giving away to co-workers and friends and others that I plan to use as favors at my wedding.

I didn't do it today, but I tilled a garden over the weekend, fertilized and mulched so that I can plant many veggies and other edibles this weekend.

I renewed my membership to the Sierra Club and voted in the board elections for the organization.

Think green. Think Clean. Fuck the Machine!

Drive less, recycle what I can and don't use, find an environmental bumper sticker (I live in KY so wish me luck), and avoid a river here that smells of sewage.

It means nothing in the UK. Do the Canadians celebrate it? Any other European countries? Australia?

20. I was going to work in my garden and planting a tree was on
my list. Mother Nature decided to shower us with her earth cleansing water instead, so maybe in a couple of days. Instead I will be cleaning out my closets and recycling items into my donation bin.

29. Driving powered by biodiesel
In my VW diesel I use 100% soy oil derived fuel most of the year (in the winter I have to add some petrodiesel to keep it from freezing). Besides emmitting almost no net greenhouse CO2, we don't have to invade Iowa.

31. It's actually the only "holiday" of the year that I observe ...
I even go so far as to take the day off.

A local community college has an annual three-day Earth Day event consisting of speakers, music, open mike, yoga, dream-catcher-making, information tables, tree-planting, etc. that I've been attending for the last several years. So that's where I am now.

I recycle every day.

If people get overwhelmed by all the environmental problems of the world, they should try to keep it simple and remember the phrase THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY.

Happy Earth Day
