3. Don't get me started on Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.
:grr: I am almost finished reading the book, "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins and HE was involved in making it "economically necessary" for those countries to sell their OIL to us and why Saudi Arabia has a Free Rein by our government.... I'm so ashamed of this country. If you haven't read the book...it's a MUST READ! Looking at that list of some of those tiny countries, I'm sure they were visited by our "economic hit men" too. :( It makes me sick.

As for Ecuador-US urges new poll in Ecuador

Agencies in Quito
Friday April 22, 2005
The Guardian

The US called for new elections in Ecuador yesterday after its parliament dramatically removed the president, Lucio Gutierrez.

Mr Gutierrez, the third Ecuadorean leader to be toppled in eight years, was yesterday holed up at the Brazilian embassy in Quito, awaiting asylum, a day after the congress voted to oust him after violent street protests.

Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, hinted that Washington was concerned at the removal of the president.

4. The UK has oil?
that's news to me. And why was Iraq selling us crude in 2003?

...interesting

And if Canada or Mexico even thinks about joining OPEC, Bush will destroy them.

5. I believe most of UK's oil
is from the North Sea, and possibly that is the case with Norway too.

6. The UK has North Sea oil platforms
But they peaked a few years ago and production is already declining.

Regarding Iraq selling us oil, IIRC, Iraq was selling us something like 481,000 barrels per day in 2003 up until few weeks before the invasion. After the invasion, we get bupkis from Iraq. That probably has something to do with the rise in the price of oil, eh?

When you add in natural gas, I believe Canada is our largest energy supplier.
