3. Yeah- no vote today! Great success!
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 04:08 PM by housewolf
We got an extension of the vote in order to review and investiage the new allegations that have come forward this week.

We can thank Sen Voinovitch (Repub) for this - because he stated concern about the new allegations, the repubs didn't have the votes to move the nomination out of the committee to the floor of the senate, the repubs had to decide not to vote today but to investige the allegations

Now would be the time for some more evidence to surface!

16. Yup- we'd better make this extra time worth it.
Otherwise, we should have just taken the vote.

Keep the pressure on!

Give them 2 weeks. It is true that Luger was blindsided. They will get an earful from all of us starting tomorrow afternoon when Rush Limbaugh finishes blowing a gasket. If they do not get the point in 2 weeks, then I will join you in quitting the GOP party.

IS IT JUST ME, OR DID BIDEN LOOK LIKE THE CHAIRMAN OF THAT COMMITTEE.

Man, I wish we were that powerful. That one Democrat would have to be huge. *imagines a giant John Kerry stomping though the senate*

P.S. I also love how that one guy said he was writing Rush. Just another difference between us and them. We write to elected officials. They write to blowhards. LOL

6. to be clear....there wasn't a vote on Bolton
Lugar put a further discussion and vote
off til after the April recess during
which time there will be interviews
with those who had allegations, possibly
return by Bolton.

This happened when Voinovich (R-Ohio)
said he was concerned about the passion
on the other side about not being enough
debate on the new allegations
of Bolton and said he wouldn't vote
him out of committee at this point.
A tie vote keeps him in committee.

12. my 2nd letter to My Congress People (Voniovich/Ohio/Cincinnati)
I urge you to look not only to today, but toward the future. Bolton has not effectively shown that he is willing to be a diplomat, only that he wants things his way, especially with the information on how he bullied people about Weapons of Mass Destruction (which, if I'm not mistaken, have yet to be found).

In working with other countries, it's imperative that the US is not antagonistic when other means of discourse can be as or more effective. If you truly feel that Bolton's ideology and demeanor will not lead us into a further quagmire of hostilities -- or even confrontations -- with other countries, then by all means, cast your vote without further thought. If you feel that there is even an inkling of possibility that Bolton is not the most effective person for this position, please, vote no. Your constituents are counting on YOUR judgment.

Kind Regards.
