CDC admits massively overstating obesity death rate (14x too high)
The AP is reporting today that being fat isn't anywhere near as dangerous as first reported. Wow:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated today that packing on too many pounds accounts for 25,814 deaths a year in the United States. As recently as January, the CDC came up with an estimate 14 times higher: 365,000 deaths.

1. More of the usual propaganda
Got to sell those diet product and diet pills and diet magazines and make every woman who isn't a size 8 feel like she's deformed and ugly.

4. I think it's a myth that people cannot be "overweight" and healthy
I think for many people, constant dieting may be more harmful to their health than just staying a certain weight but still eating healthy foods and staying fit

2. They almost had to re-state the findings
Go ANYWHERE and look around.. MOST people are "overweight".. They probably thought it "unwise" to scare so many people...but of course their original findings were probably "used" to re-calibrate the insurance rates for people who are not waif-thin..

3. Makes it easier for Shrub and the Repugs to say....
That the poor are still being fed plenty in this country.

And so BushCo. & Repugs can say that all those health problems with the people are their own fault for being so fat, so they can pay for all their health costs.
