On the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing as well as the
Conflagration of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas.
Also, a day before Hitler's B-day and the Columbine incident.
In a week when neo-nazis usually commemorate hitler's birthday throughout the week, from 4/15 to 4/24, according to that second site.

2. That's a bit of a stretch
The old Pope dies and they have to wait two weeks to elect another one.

3. Fricking Cardinals forgot to check the US papers and tin foil hat crowd.
That's the problem with an institution that keeps dates of tragedies from the 400's.

4. If there's any symbolism
it may be because he was interred in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany.
