Typically, when you hear the word "army", images of uniformed soldiers carrying weapons often come to mind. While we use words like "revolutionary" and "army", we do not mean an army of guns and bombs, but of ideas and of peaceful action. We believe that even the term "revolutionary army" needs to be assigned a new meaning, one that conjures up not even the hint of violence or destruction. We feel that action must be taken not only towards peace, but with peace.
We have formed this army, in order to take our vision of a more peaceful and cooperative society to the people. We do intend a social and political revolution, but will wage our "war" with the truth and with a commitment to non-violent, civic action.
Mission Statement:
The 2RA strives to bring this country to an ever more perfect union. To make sure that "liberty and justice for all" aren't merely words we recite, but a definitive goal we all fight to achieve. To that end, we will use all legal and non-violent means at out disposal. We will exercise our rights of free speech, to peaceably assemble, to spread our message through the freedom of the press, and to petition the government when grievances may arise. We will endeavor to remind all people that what makes the United States the greatest country in the world, is that we have always moved forward, leaving behind us such stains as slavery, gender inequality, and McCarthy era politics.
Values:
Equality:
We believe that equality means equality. Whether it is based on gender, race, national origin, physical ability, marital status, age, religion (or lack thereof), or sexual orientation, all people should have the same rights and privileges as American citizens.
Non-Violence:
We believe that war should only be considered as a last resort, when all other avenues have been fully explored and exhausted, and only when the lives of American citizens are being directly threatened. We further believe that any two or more parties, military or civilian, domestic or international, should always seek non-violent solutions to resolve their differences.
Religious Freedom:
We believe that the Wall of Separation of Church and State is what ensures our first amendment rights of religious and philosophical freedom. We believe that it is the responsibility of the people, not the government, to define morality.
Environment:
We believe that protecting the environment should be of paramount importance to all Americans. Of the two paths before us, one that indiscriminately consumes a finite supply of resources, and one that focuses on future sustainability, we will always support and promote the latter of the two options.
Personal Liberty:
We believe that no law should limit any action an individual might undertake that does not have a deleterious effect on others. We believe that in this country, freedom means freedom.
Equity:
We believe that it is not necessarily the system that is flawed, but rather the corruption within the system that needs to be remedied. Corruption at any level of public or private enterprise must not and will not be tolerated.
Media Accountability:
While we believe in the unfettered freedom of the press, and that private media outlets have the right to report in any way they see fit, we believe that people of good conscience have a responsibility to counter any disinformation that is being presented to the public as fact.
