Bush's Gas Attack

Stung by a dramatic fall in his approval ratings at least partially due to public distress over rising gas prices, President Bush used his weekly radio address on Saturday to announce a new "first order of business": Getting Congress to pass his controversial and long-stalled energy bill.

"American families and small businesses across the country are feeling the pinch from rising gas prices," he said.

"In the coming days and weeks I'll talk more about what we need to do in Washington to make sure America has an energy policy that reflects the demands of a new century

2. Oh, he's been harping on his energy bill for years already!
I guess, because the public would now be happy with gas prices under $2.00, it's time to try to look like the great savior and claim victory through his energy bill!

5. BINGO.. I said this when prices started up from their 1.50 area last year
Keep them going up up up up, so that after a period of time, $2 would look "good", and it's happened..people are so predictable.Madison Avenue has known it for ages, and so has government,.

6. I hate to damit it, but the Pubs are better than we are at marketing!
They marketed Shrub, they did gas prices several times (always the same way), they did the "values" issue, religion in politics, etc.

Businesses have known how to "create a desire" in the minds of the comsumer for many years, and the Pubs adopted that as their strategy. I've been criticized for saying it, but I think the Dems should hire a few experts from the business community (like those who create the great beer ads) to sell our candidates. Ethical or not, it works...damn it!

7. This is his pat answer to high gas prices
and the driving ambition of his presidency, to enrich and expand industry dominance and influence over our tax dollar allocations. The bill is an industry dream, unraveling years of environmental progress and yoking us to a new generation of nuclear meddling, including new nukes.
