I just got freeped out in the hall
Crazy kid who thinks Michael Moore is a hypocrite for eating fast food and being a capitalist. Then the discussion moved into guns, and I talked of rightwing militia nuts who were in the NRA, and he freaked out because he thought that I had said that EVERYONE in the NRA was a rightwing militia nut. It went further downhill from there. The kid clearly has a metal plate in his head receiving the FOX news signal or Rush or something.

14. I know what it means
I was just curious why someone would pick something like that as a username.

6. should have said something like "I'm not dumb enough to make huge blanket
statements about entire groups of people I don't know."

that would, of course, set you up for that "you are kind of dumb, huh?" look you could give him when he starts spouting stuff about "the liberals."

9. Strangely enough, he did exactly that.
He also thinks that the answer to anything in a gun debate is "the 2nd amendment"

13. well, at least he knows that it's there
ask him if the 2nd amendment extends all the way to your carrying a loaded, concealed assault rifle into a government building without any sort of license.

11. well--I can understand the freepers
confusion on the gun control issue. When I was in college, one of my really left wing professors was an NRA member. I have to admit that it blew my mind at first.

I will probably get flamed for this--but having lived in other countries--I have to say that in most places of the world gun-control is just accepted as the civilized way to handle guns. I was shocked that a "liberal" would be an NRA member.

But--this professor was very liberal and guns had been a part of his life all through his growing up--he grew up in a very rural area of the south.

So--it expanded my horizons a bit (as college is supposed to do!). Although I admit that I am shocked by how many gun-lovers there are here at DU. In my mind, gun-control is the responsible position--and thus the position that liberals will naturally tend too...

15. well, there's gun control and responsible gun ownership
the two are supposed to coincide, as in, people NOT WANTING very deadly weapons in the first place, but it doesn't always happen that way.

18. What is amazing
is that the kid is probably not aware that Michael Moore is also an NRA member.
