1. Nobody lives forever. Life is what we make of it. Yet we think
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 03:15 PM by HypnoToad
we are immortal, our society immutable. Sometimes even despite what's going on around us.

In other words, whatever happens happens. We are all to blame since we are all in this society. And some way or another, we will die.

We just have to be bothered to LIVE in the meantime and not worry about death.

6. The context causes the outcomes. The question is, can one
individual have a significant influence on the context?

I gather from your post that you don't think so. Personally, I'm not sure. But, believe each individual should at least attempt to budge the "beast". Some succeed. Look at Hitler and Bush. They've most definitely changed the context. Clinton dramatically changed the context when he accepted casual and silly sex in the White House office. FDR changed the context when he set up the Social Security program. All of those guys were Presidents. We peons have the justifiable feeling that we can't make a change.

13. I knew that you were joking. I'm referring to the people who
are duct taping their homes or are afraid they will die in an airline hijacking. (The odds of that in the first year were 1 in 6,000 four planes were hijacked every day and you flew on an airline every day. After the second year, the odds jumped to 1 in 12,000, ect. In other words, the chances of a fatal airline hijacking are almost infinitesimal. Meanwhile, the inspection fetish is about to break the airlines, along with oil price hikes.)

8. Maybe... Duct And Cover ???

Is this a rational response? A Connecticut man covers his house in plastic to protect against terrorist attack.

11. That's a stupid and cowardly response. Imagine what is going
through his children's minds. He's scaring the hell out of them. That's where they live and they are living if fear that any minute a germ or gas warfare device will be set off. In the first place, the odds are near infinitesimal of that happening at any one specific place. The last germ or gas attacks were in Iraq about 20 years ago.
(They used poison gas that we sold them.)
