Carl Limbacher (NEWSMAX) thinks Vancouver is in Oregon--
and freepers believe it!

Dean: GOP More Corrupt than Dems

Even though the biggest-money donors in the last election cycle were Democrats, DNC chairman Howard Dean complained this week that Republicans "have been utterly corrupted" by the process.

"The reason we need you to give money is because the political process on both sides - but particularly on the Republican side - has been utterly corrupted by people who give huge amounts of money from large corporations," Dean told a high school audience in Vancouver, Oregon.

he certainly didn't know where Dean was.

15. I didn't have much time to explore because I was there
for a writer's conference. I did a lot of walking in the city though. So much glass! The pontoon planes were fun to watch. My room overlooked Coal Bay.

20. Check the links in the upper page.
Several of them CLEARLY refer to Vancouver, Washington (the site of Fort Vancouver). The page on counties of Oregon also claims Cowlitz County. I would not put much confidence in that website!

4. LOVED this comment:
"Howard Brush Dean III, child of privilege, Birkenstock doc, and beneficiary of some $3.8 million in trust funds, equities and financial instruments, is the epitome of the "limousine liberal"."

As opposed to that hardworking "Son-of-the-Texas-soil" GWB, right?
ROFL!

5. This really comes as no surprise...
I mean these are the same people who believe that:

a) Saddam had everything to do with 911.

b) There are WMD's in Iraq.

c) That Theresa Heinz Kerry owns Heinz Corporation

d) That the unhealthy part of a double bacon cheeseburger is the bun.

11. A lot of "gotcha" posts just wind up showing the stupidity of the
OP and those in chorus mocking the subject of the "gotcha."

In this case, you're right:

Don Carlson walked out; republican senator from Vancouver.

Washington.

Newsmax goofed. The need (new?) fact checkers.

While the Oregonian newspaper covered it, Vancouver is just across the Columbia River in Washington. The "Clark County" part of it makes it clear that they're referring to the Vancouver that's in Washington.

There's a lot of traffic back and forth between the two cities, and many residents of Vancouver read the Oregonian, besides which, they get all their TV from Portland. Vancouver is a much smaller city, even though it's the largest city in southwest Washington.

I ought to know. I lived in Portland from 1993 to 2003, and I doubt that they've moved Vancouver since then.

I googled "Vancouver, Oregon," just to make sure, and almost all the hits were for "Portland-Vancouver, Oregon."

There was an ad for an opthamologist who does LASIK surgery in "Vancouver, Oregon," but when I plugged the address into Yahoo, I got a map of Vancouver, Washington. (Hmm, I wouldn't trust an eye surgeon who didn't know what state he was in...)

19. There is also --
The references in the Oregonian piece about the Washington State University campus in Vancouver. Somehow I don't think that's located in Oregon. (Crazy as higher education is getting!) And the Delorme Atlas of Oregon does not list a Vancouver.

24. And you would know!
But I can assure everyone that there is NO Vancouver, Oregon. It's across the creek from Portland in Washington.

That is a scary thought about the lost eye surgeon, though.

:hi:
