Don't change you mind Mr. Frist-- make that speech! Make that speech!
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 11:07 PM by deacon
If he does this people will see what lunatics they are.

Senator Frist must not give legitimacy to those who claim they hold a monopoly on faith. They do not. The telecast is scheduled to take place on the second night of the Passover holiday, when Jews around the world gather together to celebrate our religious freedom.

His association with the scheduled telecast is, in a word, shameful. We call upon to him to disassociate himself from the claim that the Senate is participating in a filibuster against faith, and to withdraw his participation from the April 24th event.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has reportedly now not only decided on the "nuclear option" on filibusters but he is apparently ready to help instigate a political BIG BOOM that has the potential of enmeshing the GOP in charges that it's ushering in a new, dangerous area of theocratic McCarthyism.

If he does it, it'll be a watershed moment -- a transformational moment for the GOP...marking the political death of a dominant part of its party.

1. I think Frist may have finally jumped the shark with this one
Hope so anyway. I'd love to see that smug, cat-killing bastard go down.

2. It's outrageous enough to get the coverage, let's get it on the table
in front of the public.

3. I've seen references to Frist's cat-hating...
what's up with that? I'd like to know more. Usually, someone who is cruel to animals doesn't have problems with being cruel to people.

Of course, I'm a bit middle-of-the-road. I eat meat. Because I eat meat, I "accept" hunting for meat (but I no longer do it myself and never will again). I believe in protecting native wildlife from feral pets, but if there is a way to do it without harming any animals...great. My apartment complex is overrun by cats. They are causing a few problems. They fight noisily at night and spray everything with nasty-smelling cat piss. Yuck! Still, I'd much rather get them spayed and neutered than haul them off to be summarily euthanized. I can find a way to deal with the caterwauling and the horrible stench. I think.

When did this post go off on a tangent? Sorry about that. It's too late for me to be posting. Bad Ladyhawk. Go to bed.

4. Talk to your local chapter of the humane society, they should be able to
give you information of local free spay/neuter clinics to help reduce the cat population for your apartment complex. It is not hard to trap them and bring them in.

As far as Frist's hatred of cats, I don't know anything about it. If it is true, then that is one more reason for me to dislike him.

It appears that while Frist was a student at the Harvard Medical School, he routinely visited local animal shelters and pretended to adopt cats in order to take them home and practice his surgical skills, killing them in the process. Sounds like the perfect candidate to be heading up the "culture of life". Or any culture.....
