14. it was a commercial from "Friends of Tom Delay"
it went something like this-if you support tom delay, show him by getting $20,000 and putting in 2 piles, put 1 pile in an envelope and send it to So and so Indian gaming council, then take the other pile, call this phone number, land line only, when a woman answers hang up, take the pile of money and put it in a bag, go to the Washington monument, put the bag down and slowly walk away without looking back.

55. They got going on gun control...
Clark said he has 20 guns in his house "...and I'm a Democrat!"
The best part? He said "No one needs an assault weapon. If you want an assault weapon we'll give you one. We'll give you a uniform and boots, too!"

out of his arse about "there are political considerations" about intervening in Darfour. Wesley Clark says straight up, "No, this has gone on too long and we should stop it -- it's a genocide." (I paraphrased here.)

68. LOL - "don't Bogart that joint, pal!"
I actually think he isn't a gun owner. He made no technically coherent arguments for/about guns. I'm betting Wesley Clark could school him there.

Which reminds me - Clark once again points out to the pro-war folks, "we have all the automatic weapons you want - just sign on the dotted line to join the Armed Forces." (Lots of applause to that one, as I'm sure you noted.)

I'm listening to his "don't piggyback that issue," and I'm screaming inside about, "well then, tell your side not to piggyback EVERYTHING (including The Patriot Act, Dept. of Homeland Security, blah blah blah to infinity) on the back of 9/11. Then we can chat."

edited because I got excited and didn't complete a thought.

95. Just watched "Sometimes in April" (about Rwanda)
this afternoon. Made me sick to my stomach because it was not a National Security issue for the U.S., so, tough luck, folks. The culture of greed (i.e., selective Isolationism) is decimating America's heritage.

FYI, WesDem - General Clark was my first choice in 2004. I campaigned for him as best I could, and will do it again in a heartbeat if he runs. :-)

31. i know this was glazed over, but Boxer said we are a big tent
Could this be our problem??? She said even thou you may disagree with us on a certain issue, there are other issues out there. Maybe that is our problem thou. I think people who vote Rethug only have one issue such as guns or abortion, and they just dont care about any other issues. I see it daily on a car messageboard. They are so anal about the gun issue or some other stupid issue and they never care about other issues that the Dems favor that they might agree with.

Could our problem being that we try to be the big tent???

(as opposed to the Frum Bush wh2re) whenever Wes opens his mouth, you're glad he did.

The crowd is going nuts over everything he says. Like a lot of smart people, he holds back sometimes. Better part of wisdom.

(They're talking about guns right now. Frum is being an (informed) ass who makes no sense no matter what he says.)

But, as with Schavio, sometimes, if you'll just let them, they'll hang themselves.
From what I could tell on here and the other thread I was "Clark monitoring" on, he didn't speak often, but when he did, it was clear outta the park and onto the freeway.
Frum talked 'til he sputtered and then Clark went in for the kill.

That's all it takes, really. You don't have to talk alot to carry a big stick. ;)

In fact, probably the most boring show yet (and I usually really like it).

But then, I have yet to understand the attraction of Clark. . .

Afterall, you're, admittedly, a late bloomer. ;)

He's "scary smart" and it sometimes takes folks a while to see how much power he really has in controlling a situation.

74. Caught this from a friend
"One disappointment in show because at one point Maher made his once-a-week supportive statement about elections in Iraq. Wes said to Maher, Yeah, I want to talk to you about that. Maher responded, Yeah, I know you do.

Unfortunately, the Iraq topic died."

I'm guessing Maher's getting a talking to about now. Ha!

85. I heard from somebody who was there
Wes blasted Maher for an hour and a half. I'm hoping for a followup show so he can do it on air.

86. Please post something if you hear anything more.
I'd like to hear Maher getting his ass handed to him. He deserves it for ripping off Bill Hicks's material, as I've been informed, while Hicks was in bed dying.

87. Please Please Please let us know what was said and what
happened if you find out! I hope that Wes has given Maher some new TRUE material to talk about on his show. I wonder if we will start hearing - Bush/Iran-Syria jokes.

88. This was all I heard
"a one half hour very passionate "talk"! It was great!! Wes was calling Maher on all his naivete about Syria and the ME and even gave him the rooster line! Told him to read his article in the Baltimore paper, basically won the argument."

But there were several Clarkies there, so there probably will be more news ahead.

90. A bit more
"everyone said they'd wished Wes would set Maher straight on Iraq and the ME not being a cause celebre of the bush administration....well, let me tell you about Wes at the after party!

He was fighting for Maher to get it! He was so passionate. Started with the Syrian example, how we couldn't give bush credit -- he even told my hubby he thought the bush admin was claiming credit for what was the result of an assassinated leader... He moved on to Palestine and the death of Arafat, I was eavesdropping at this time sandwiched behind Maher and next to Natalie Maines who was keenly interested in Wes's views on Iraq. He and Maher were sparring for what seemed a half hour. We were joined in the listening session by Wes's Communications director who will be blogging with us sometime soon. It got heated, but Wes told him what he needed to hear. Do not fear-- the opportunity was NOT missed to answer that question. Wes was just classy enough to save it for off camera."

91. Woo Hooo!!!!!!!!
"Natalie Maines came up and said she had to go home but wanted to ask Wes his opinion on Iraq. He ,of course, complied! This poor man never did make it to the restroom, because after Maines and her spouse (?), along comes Bill Maher to join in the discussion and a few other guests start to crowd around and we are now in a small circle around Wes, who has by this time taken off the jacket and is in action.

I was meeting and greeting Gert when the Maher smackdown started, but was distracted when I heard Wes's voice growing progressively louder, just below shout level. He was doing what he said he'd do on the show...straightening Maher out about the Middle East situation. Passionately arguing about Syria, Maher fighting back trying to maintain bush's role in the changes there....Then Clark mentions Arafat's death, then Hariri's assassination...Maher asks some hypothetical question about 100 yrs from now and democracy in the ME and Clark ( messing up his hair in frustration) responds, "---but Bill....he lied to the American people. You can't do that! I don't care where you are in 100 years." Or something like that! He still hasn't been to the restroom. The Maher argument went on easily a half hour."

(Correction: This all turned out to have been in a restaurant, not the green room, for the record.)

92. Do you need a new best friend to hang out with
ESPECIALLY when you are hanging out with Maher.....Are there anymore details on any of the Clark web sites/forum? if so what is the link?

By the way....when ANYBODY asks about 100 years from now I think a good response would be something like -- 100 years from now might be the rapture!, would that be credited to Bush to?
