Thank you for contacting me regarding the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005 (S. 5), of which I am a co-sponsor. I agree that this is important legislation and appreciate hearing your views.
Throughout my tenure in the Senate, I have supported responsible tort reform efforts, including comprehensive product liability reform, small business punitive damage limits, and other efforts to protect Ohio businesses and the millions of people they employ.
As you know, the President signed the Class Action Fairness Act into law on February 18, 2005. This law will move certain types of class action lawsuits to federal courts. It also will help ensure greater consistency in judgments and fairness in cases where parties are from different states and would place limits on "forum shopping" practices. In addition, this law will limit frivolous lawsuits and prohibit excessive settlements to plaintiff lawyers.
Should any other tort reform measure come before the Senate for a vote, I certainly will keep your views in mind. If you have any additional concerns, please feel free to contact me anytime.
Very respectfully yours,
MIKE DeWINE United States Senate

As a note, the responce had nothing to do with the concerns that I pointed out in my letter, I just got a form letter... 3 months afterwards.
My orriginal letter was politely worded that I disagreed, where I disagreed and that for disagreeing I was going to put 100 bucks into a jar to donate to his opponent, that every time he made a vote I agreed with I would put 100 dollars in another jar and that, when it came time for the reelection whichever jar had the most money in it would get my donation.
I thought it might be an interesting incentive... I got a jarred responce and doubt anyone even read it.
