Explosions rock Iraq

Two cars driven by suspected suicide bombers blew up amid a convoy of police vehicles in Baghdad's Jadriya district.

US soldiers went to secure the wreckage of vehicles caught up in the blast near an interior ministry office.

It is not known exactly how many Iraqis have died since the US invasion and the outbreak of the insurgency.

On Thursday, attacks were also reported in the town of Baquba. Here, US troops tend to injured colleagues.

More casualties were reported from an explosion in the town of Tikrit, birthplace of former leader Saddam Hussein.

Bush's response:

Laura and I are having another fabulous year, thanks.
