21. Here's one I have bookmarked...
...on the mess tent explosion in Mosul:

"One of the advantages of living through enough history is that you hear the same rationalizations and excuses return like a bad melody. During Vietnam a point was reached in which the press and the public, which had supported the war for years during the escalation, recognized it wasn't working, we weren't going to win, and that the light at the end of the tunnel was an oncoming train. And yet--we couldn't "bug out," "cut and run," choose your own vernacular phrase. Why? Because America would lose face and stature in the world. Because our enemies (then, the Communists) would be emboldened. And, this was the clincher moral argument, because it would mean that those who died in Vietnam had died in vain.

We're hearing some of that now, and we'll hear more of it ahead. But face it, those troops in Vietnam did die in vain, as did the Marines who died in the barracks in Beirut, as do most of the men and women who die in war. Most wars are unnecessary, waged on the basis of lies, power, and fear; to justify the unnecessary deaths, the funeral services float the soft consolation that the body lying in the flag-draped coffin died for Peace, or Democracy, or the Good of the Country. When often they died because too many fools wouldn't admit they had made a ghastly mistake and kept perpetuating that mistake even after they and all the world recognized the mission was futile. How many more soldiers and civilians are going to die in vain in Iraq to prove that those who died before them didn't die in vain? "

6. "On Some Sad Laps, No Heads Bob"
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 01:57 PM by pacoyogi
I think James Wolcott is always brillant, always funny, and a must read every day. I have laughed 'til I cried and peed myself.

Today's entry, on Rush's animus towards blowjobs....

http://jameswolcott.com/archives/2005/04/on_some_sad_lap.php

"Limbaugh seemed to be implying at the top of his voice that blowjobs are an integral part of the liberal agenda, an argument which he may want to rethink. The popularity of blowjobs is difficult to metric but undeniable; they cause little harm and zero unwanted pregnancies. If the plentitude of blowjobs is part of the Clinton legacy, millions owe the former president a debt of gratitude and an annual pilgrimage to the Clinton Memorial Library in Arkansas.

Yet, like so many products and pleasures, blowjobs aren't evenly distributed in society. It's a renewable natural resource not everyone gets to enjoy, and I was struck by the vehement tone of Limbaugh's tirade. He sounded bitter. I've seen this rancor inflict so many middle-aged men. Reading about all the oral sex young people are presumably having, they feel envious and resentful. No classmates were treating them to afterschool blowjobs in high school! Nor were hot teachers like that one in Florida seducing them in parked cars. It doesn't seem fair. It doesn't seem just. We're living in the Golden Age of BJs, and men in Rush's recumbent position feel barred from Eden, forced to imagine the action from their recliners as they stare sullenly at their plasma screens. It's probably how many adults felt during the free-love Sixties as the lid came off the nation's libido."

9. ROFLMAO!!
Perfect, absolutely perfect! I might have added only one thing re Kagan's possible lack of abilities: One would have thought she would be very proficient at the job in question given she does a great job of fellating the bush administration through the use of their talking points. Guess it again points out how repubs and their media slaves are 'all talk, no action', lol.

20. Fellating Bushco might leave Ms. Kagan very tired...
and Rush should be prepared to accept that sacrifice, good soldier that he is. Oh, wait---he wasn't a soldier at all, was he?

10. Hey Rush, come to DU and read the thread
about "collagen lips" which look a helluva lot like your "pouty lips."

See what people think of when they see such lips.

Feeling a little uncomfortable with your "feminine side" today, are you?

"Jeff Christie" phase of his life. I've always thought that Rush was more envious of Monica than he was of Bill.

Afraid of homosexuals? Praytell how can a homosexual be a threat to a heterosexual marriage? Or are the insane just protesting too much? Is it the limbaughs of the world would like to take whorl? Maybe they have already. Maybe they like it and know they can't have anymore? It must really SUCK being them.

16. I wonder if Rush's read the survey about kids who sign virginity pledges
They are more likely to engage in oral and anal sex. That must be Bill Clinton's fault too.

Earth to Rush: Clinton did not invent the blowjob. Sorry you missed out. Maybe if you were just a bit nicer to Daryn. Buy her a diamond or a baby seal fur coat. :sarcasm:
