Wonder who the LTTE writer is talking about in this first paragraph?

U.S.-Mexico history lesson

The cries for the United States to begin serious enforcement of our Mexican border appear to be picking up steam. One CNN commentator seems to be making a living on this issue.

But I wonder how many of the ''enforce the borders'' crowd know our history with Mexico. Do they know about the Mexican-American War (1846-48) when we took California, most of Texas and the Southwest from Mexico? Essentially, by force of arms, we took most of Mexico's most valuable land at the time. The economic displacement ripples through today.

Think how different things would have been if there had been a Mexican gold rush in California or Mexican oil gushers in Texas.

I am really glad that all of Merica has not gone brain dead. I was really starting to worry. A lot.

2. One of the reps who voted against the war was Abraham Lincoln.
I can't help but wonder how old Abe would feel about the "Minutemen" defending our borders against poor people with brown skin.

Dobbs has been slobbering all over those armed racist fuckwits wandering around in the desert lately. Here's some more information...

4. That is a brain dead letter.
I wonder how many of the "open the borders" crowd are aware that Mexico had no more legitimate claim to the sparsely settled areas of California, Texas and the southwest?

Or the fact that Mexico had only existed as a nation for 27 years at that time?

Or the fact that Texas was not so much "stolen" as the dominant majority of residents wanted independence from Mexico?

Or that the US had taken Mexico City by the end of the war, and gave back all the territory is occupied in exchange for lands including California?

France occupied Indochina much longer than Mexico held the unpopulated southwestern territories.

Should Vietnam be given back to France?
