Wes Clark AND Barbara Boxer on Bill Maher Real Time Tonight!
Real Time with Bill Maher returns with a new edition Friday, April 15 at 11 pm.

Bill's guests will include Dixie Chick Natalie Maines, Gen. Wesley Clark, writer David Frum, and Sen. Barbara Boxer. Plus, via satellite columnist Tom Friedman.

This week's Hot Topic:
In commenting about a conservative group pledging $10 million to "Stop Hillary" in 2008, former President Clinton called the group's leader, Arthur Finkelstein, either "Machiavellian" or "self-loathing."

Since Finkelstein is an openly gay man (who married his lover in Massachusetts last December), do you think Clinton's comments were fair game or over the line?

14. Me either...
:(

And, everyone I know has cut back on their cable and/or doesn't have it at all.

I'm on dial up. It will take 10 years for me to download from Ice's site.

Sigh.

3. Love the Bill Maher show ... but
I just saw him last night, and he said he thinks Bush may be right about going to war with Iraq??????... He knows he lied to get us in there , but it seems as though Iraq is becoming a democracy and the "insurgency" is dying out...

What the fuck happened to him?

It appears Maher is willing to say they were right about the peace-domino effect IF actual PEACE does take root and sprout and grow in the middle east.

I don't believe that's the same as saying Bush was right to go to war by lying or that the cost would be worth it or even that trying to stimulate peace with bombs should be 'our job'.

I also saw Ariana Huffington strongly rebuke him several times last week, saying that creating peace is NOT why we agreed to GO and that's the issue here.

As a political show host I let Bill stimulate conversation any way he can and I don't expect him to share my every single point of view. I still enjoy the show and his take on all aspects of US life.

Let's not be so quick to judge.

12. Bill sometimes credits * with things he didn't do.
It seems like Iraq is partially succeeding in rebuilding their country so he gives Bush credit for it. No, Bill needs to think more deeply about this and credit the Iraqis for attempting to salvage their country and build a democracy in spite of what is happening around them that * brought to them.

Arianna said the same and I wrote him telling him that if * had let Saddam go into exile, like he offered, this would have happened without a drop of blood being shed. Saddam would have been gone and the Iraqis would have created a new democratic nation. Saddam misunderstood *. He thought he was dealing with someone rational. Instead * went to war even after he called Saddam's bluff because the sick little prick and his sick cabal really wanted to blow things up.

15. Yer welcome - but I don't think the show was all that good. You know...
this entire season hasn't been top notch.

He does seem to be trying too hard to be more moderate now.

What's up with that?

17. damn...could david frum have been anymore dismissive of the troops?
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 09:47 AM by MsTryska
how are these people the loyal ones?

I couldn't get over his comments about the troops (to paraphrase):

"I believe there should be more support for democrats within the troops - they should represent our diversity - what does it matter to us? 1 maybe 2 points?"

this guy doesn't see the troops or i think anyone as human beings - he sees them as poll numbers. i was disgusted.

18. Did anyone notice the dig Mahre made at moveon.org?
He was making fun of a group of people who had raised $3 million to try and keep Star Trek on the air for another season. Mahre said why don't you use that money for a group that could really use it like moveon.org. The audience DID NOT like the comment and booed Bill. Is moveon.org having money woes or is it just a cheap shot at a liberal web site?
