7. In the Mid 70's when Jim Bakker and his PTL ministries were in full bloom,
I had an occassion to go to Charlotte, N.C. on business. My cab driver drove past the PTL Mansion and asked me if I knew what PTL stood for.I said, it says Praise The Lord.He said: "Wrong. It says Praise the Lord and Pass The Loot.".
He's right, I've squared off with a few preachers and family members who were so pro-war it made me ill. Somehow they seem to ignore those parts of the Bible they don't like. One of my husband's aunts actually thought she was voting for Jesus last November, that's after 6 months of propaganda was sent our way via email- I had finally had it and sent the paper trail of George B's guard "service".
Actually I think the military should set up recruiting tents at NASCAR functions- or maybe church parking lots!
11. Proper names for fundie preachers: charlatans and con men
charlatans for peddling false religion, including promoting greed, blasphemy, and even murder in the name of God; and con men for hiding behind God's name to bilk the unsuspecting faithful out of their hard-earned money.
I can't help but wish these people would hurry up and leave so people who actually care about making the earth a good place to live could be in charge for a change.
