1. isn't it true that only the top 2 percent pay the estate tax anyway?

3. Something like 5,000 people
actually benefit substantially from this tax cut.

How many of them do you think are sitting in oil company CEO chairs? Major media CEO chairs? The big chair in the Oval Office?

8. No it isn't
The dead guy doesn't benefit when the estate tax is removed. It's his living heirs.

There may be 20-40 heirs for each person with a $ 1 million estate who dies. It's those 20-40 people and charities who get less because of the tax, not the dead guy. He's dead.

I support the Democratic proposal to have no estate tax for estates of $ 3 million or less. I think that's very reasonable and a decent compromise.

The reason I know about the estate tax though is that I got hit by it. An aunt died about 6-7 years ago, and she had an estate of right about $ 1 million.

I was heir to a small percentage of her estate. My share was hit hard by the estate tax, and also the New York State estate tax. Back then the limit was only $ 600,000.

Agree or disagree about the estate tax, but saying the estate tax just hits the top 2 % is just wrong because I was hit by it, and so was my brother, sister, mother, father, uncles, aunts, church, World Wildlife Fund, animal adoption center, etc, and none of us are anywhere remotely close to any top 2 % of anything.

2. One would hope...
... there is a large underground economy in the DC area devoted to the manufacture of guillotines.... If there were a sudden roll-out on the White House lawn (along with a few torches, pitchforks and surly, badly-dressed crowds, for dramatic effect), they might begin to get the point....

9.  And the GOP will dance on our graves
oblivious apparently to the fact that most of them will be digging their own graves as well in the vast cemetery that's left of our democracy.

Isn't there a point when something has grown so evil and corrupt that it serves no purpose and should be encouraged as it rushes to its own destruction?

I don't like to say it, and I even say it with sadness, but I don't know how to avoid the simple fact that my government is filled with evil individuals who have destroyed it from within. And I can't fight them. I don't know how to even understand their thinking.

They have sold themselves and us, not to mention every progressive idea generations of hardworking Americans have fought and died for for their own short-term gain.

We will all be soon be owned by those big tax-free estates. First they will take our assets, and then our sweat. Combine this with the new bankrupcy laws and we will have re-introduced indentured servitude (debt peonage)on landed estates in our lifetimes.

And who dares deny this is class warfare?
