Rummy: "Am I lying my ass off? You bet!"
God, I love it when he answers questions with questions. Man, Russert may be being civil (unlike he was with Dean), but he's not letting up on Rummy.

1. My god he is lying
He just said that the SOTU should not have included the Niger Iraq uranium thing because it relied on foreign intelligence. Yet the U.S. and Britian shared intelligence the whole time to fabricate this war.

He is also saying that the U.K. still believes this to be true.

Russert just put up the reports of the Uranium from different sources thru '02 and Rummy said it was not believeable until 3/7/03 when it was in the news.

4. How do you know they're lying?
Rummy rants, Condi shakes, Powell puckers, and Cheney hides. Bush just acts normal cuz he is a lie.

5. Rummy's also shaking.
He's wringing his hands and nervously playing with his papers. It's kind of like watching John Daley getting ready for a putt.

6. Rummy said no body in the Administration said nuke weapons
Chenney was quoted as saying nuclear weapons, Rummy got real quiet, for a small eternity. I wish I could have read Rummys mind at that moment.

7. Timmy gave him a pass on that one, though.
He offered up that maybe Cheney "misspoke." I'm glad he brought it up, though.

18. Rice said a "mushroom cloud" was coming to get us....(pic)
here's the cost of OUR crazy atomic weapons program (a little old but it's the ONLY total cost estimates ever made - 1998 - $ 5.5 TRILLION --- way beyond BILLIONS...a thousand billion becomes a trillion (IMHO)...

OUR Troops being exposed to MASSIVE RADIATION...
Troops participating in exercises at "Camp Desert Rock" (the Nevada Test Site) observe the formation of a mushroom cloud following the detonation of the Dog test on November 1, 1951. This test involved a 21 kiloton device dropped from a B-50 bomber. The device exploded at a height of 1,417 feet (432 meters).

10. Where do you draw the line
Draw the line between pressing for the truth, and getting in their face and being rude and unprofessional?

He just about shook Rummy and had to stop because it was so easy to see Russert could have taken him down with a few more quotes.

Gramm is on now.

11. I guess that's what sets the Fox crowd apart.
O'Reilly, Hannity, et al. would've kept going, had it been a Democratic president.

12. russert is such a wuss!
could he have been ANY more lenient on the bald-faced lying rumsfeld... it's almost if the two were pals putting on a show...

he could have especially had rumsfeld by the balls several times during the interview, but just let the issue (call it lie) slide... the most blatant when he asked rumsfeld why he said he found out about the falsity of the niger document "within days," and rumsfeld said he should have said "few weeks" -- which actually meant, several months... oh really, mr. rumsfeld? you don't know the difference between days and months? hmmm... russert didn't even follow up... NOR did he follow up when he confronted rummy with rummy's claim in march of "we know where they (WMD's) are" when he knew good and damned well he didn't know... he let rummy slide right out of that one... also, talking about n. korea, he let rummy do his spin, and just move right along...

damn, you gotta admit, rumsfeld is damned good at re-wording the question with a question and answering it how he sees fit...

but russert is even better at falling for it...

or was he?

15. I like his answer to the balanced budget and the Bush slam
He did not let Russert cut him off in the slam of Bush. He then said repeal most of the Bush tax cuts that have been given would be a priority and having those off shore accounts pay taxes AND HERE IS THE BIG ONE get rid of the payroll tax and stimulate the economy. Plus this would all be paid for, not put on future generations like the Bush plan does.

16. Dumbsfeld just denied that he said we knew where the WMDs

were. I remember him saying that he knew where they were, in his usual smug manner.
