I am not big on the whole blog sceen, so I am a bit confused on what MSM is. I know it is some kind of news thing but why does everyone talk about it?

3. There is a link to all of the stuff like n/t and eom and msm
but I don't know what it is. I'm sure some alert DUer will help you out. I'll check back in a little bit and if they haven't, I'll post the link for you. :-)

7. Here's a link to a lot of the abbreviations.
http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?method=4&dsid=2222&dekey=Internet+slang&gwp=8&curtab=2222_1

In case they're not in there, the most common ones used here are: n/t = no text eom = end of message ( those are for people on dial-up so all they have to do is look at the subject line and if it says n/t or eom they know there is nothing past the subject line) msm = mainstream media afaik = as far as I know. There are a lot more at that site. :-)

5. It's a club...
Corporate News, the main stream itself defines what is mainstream. To be mainstream you have to first be considered as such and since they hold they keys it's a club.

A very protective club... what do you think the labeling the extremes campaign is about? It makes them look more mainstream.

TV is an innovation that matured during the cold war. Why do we assume the cold war didn't have anything to do with what was on TV? What happened to the apparatus used by our government to manage what was on when the cold war was over? It sure as hell didn't evaporate... Did it get privatized... Or was it already integrated into the political apparatus.

9. Indeed. Much more properly called "Corporate Media"
Don't let them hide behind the more innocuous "Mainstream" moniker.
