As we see quite a bit of mention of, the Republicans like to associate themselves with Christianity, and as a lot of people here who are respectful to Christianity have pointed out, a lot of Republican principles don't measure up. I think this incongruence is dealt with maybe by thinking that the wedge issues that they run with take priority for some people, or they try to justify it with some complex reasons, or maybe a lot of them even just don't like to think about it.

But here's something that might click.

1. Ask them if they like Ayn Rand and her philosophy.
2. Tell them that Anton LaVey paraphrased passages from Atlas Shrugged when he wrote the "Nine Satanic Statements" in The Satanic Bible.

walk the streets around here and not find more than 2 people who know who Ayn Rand is and they would be Democrats, the only 2 besides me.
