Are you so sure? Or is that just the spin? These are just the recent American dead. Doesn’t count all Iraqis or the wounded, including many horribly wounded, both Americans and Iraqis.

Lance Cpl. Jeremiah C. Kinchen, 22, of Salcha, Alaska, died April 4 from an explosion that occurred during combat operations in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve’s 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, San Antonio, Texas. During Operation Iraq Freedom, Kinchen was attached to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 8, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Oak Ridge Man Is Second 278th Soldier Killed: posted April 6, 2005: A staff sergeant from Oak Ridge is the second soldier from the 278th Regiment killed in Iraq. The officer killed Monday (April 4) in fighting in Iraq was 35-year-old Stephen Curtis Kennedy. He died in fighting that followed an ambush south of Balad Ruz, Iraq.
A funeral was held last week for the first 278th casualty, Sgt. Paul W. Thomason III, 37, of Jefferson City. Sgt. Kennedy and another U.S. soldier were killed Monday after the attack by insurgents in a 4-hour gunbattle. Two other members of the 278th along with 15 Iraqi soldiers were wounded.

The latest casualty, Sgt. James A. Sherrill, was killed Sunday (April 3) in Bayji, Iraq, when a bomb exploded near the military vehicle in which he rode. Sherrill, 27, of Ekron, was a member of the Kentucky Army National Guard's 2113th Transportation Company in Paducah.

Pentagon and Marine Corps officials provided no details about how he died, but the U.S. military in Iraq said a Marine it did not name had been killed Saturday (April 2) by an explosion during combat in the central city of Hadithah, which is in Anbar province.
Staff Sgt. Ioasa F. Tavae, Jr., 29, of Pago Pago, American Samoa, died April 2, in Mosul, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire. Tavae was assigned to the Army’s 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Rimes was attached to 2nd Marine Division.
