I nearly belted an old lady this morning.
There I was, minding my own business, shopping for groceries in a southern Vermont (blue, blue state) store, when what do I hear? An old bat in the produce department opining long and LOUD about how the Democrats killed Terri Schiavo. She went on and on and on and on, just about terrorizing the half deaf acquaintance she'd run into. I turned my cart around, ready to give her a piece of my mind, then thought again. What if the nasty crone turned on me? She looked nuttier than a fruitcake. I retreated, but got retribution at the deli counter. As she reached for the last rotisserie chicken, I snatched it out from under her. Cook your own poultry, sister. And it couldn't hurt to pick up a newspaper now and again, either.

1. This is too funny, I know the old lady is batshit but I really
think you should forward this to Jon Stewart.

Enjoy the chicken:)

4. That's right! Jeb could have saved her, you know!!
We need to get that meme out there:

The repubs could have saved Terri. Why didn't they? Why do they hate life?

13. They let Terri down....
They just Let her die. Why? Why!?

Elected Republicans and conservative judges are obviously a threat to life.

Republicans should punish them by staying away from the polls in '06 and '08.

24. Oh, I agree - they just let her die
Staying away from the polls would be a great form of protest. That'll show 'em!!

19. Exactly
They are the one's with all the power but didn't lift a finger. Spread it around definietly. That's what you (orginial poster) should've said after you grabed the turkey.

5. Grocery store confrontations.
Gotta love them. I got into it with a woman over food stamps waiting in the check out line, once. It sure felt good to see the look on her face when I turned around and gave her a piece of my mind when she stated she'd never accept food stamps if she worked at a grocery store, loud enough for the woman in front of us who was using them (actually the card that replaced stamps) to hear her. It sure deflated her rant about how lazy poor people are.

9. I had something like that happen to me, too.
I was in a mexican restaurant the day the pope died. There was a woman with 3 teenagers. Her back was to me, but she was drunk (in the middle of the afternoon) and she was talking loud enough that I could hear her from a few tables away.

She was saying that Michael Shiavo was going to get 4 million dollars after he killed his wife. One of the teemagers was arguing with her, but she was loudly standing her ground. I felt sorry for the table right next to hers as that family had 4 young children with them.

I couldn't believe that when she finished her meal and margarita, she went tou and all those teenagers got into the car and she drove off. She shouldn't have been driving! Idiot!

11. Hell, I wish we DID have even an OUNCE of such massive power
I would trust the Dems with that level of power, if we had it, rather than the greedy, polluting warmongers who currently control life/death for every living creature on this planet. Maybe it explains the dark cloud that's been hanging over me since the coup in 2000: I feel as if the on/off switch for my life has hovering over it the finger of an insane, grinning, kill-happy fraud king... I haven't slept a peaceful night since.

12. Notice the trend?
How many threads have been created here about similar incidents with many others adding the "me too" experience? If things don't simmer down, we're heading for some rough times. I believe political civility is a dead horse in this country.

Yes...and I will expand on that and say "civility in general" is a dead horse in this country.

14. Seems she needs her medications adjusted.
Al Franken right now is talking about a Rep.? Martinez of FLA who had circulated a memo about the Terri Schiavo affair being an great opportunity to galvanize the Republican base against the Democrats.

15. The few times I tuned in the news during the Schiavo case I noticed
the media portrayed her as being alive. Just like the media portrayed Bush as winning two elections. I would like to have someone ask the media what is the difference between an average person on their deathbed and Terry Schiavo. Are we to all be hooked up to feeding tubes at the end of our lives?

17. I would have walked up to her, smiled, and said
"We're coming for you next, old lady. Don't think us Democrats won't shove a cork in your breathe-hole when the time comes."

Smile again, walk away.

**Thanks to Jennifer Saunders of AbFab, from whom I stole the cork line.
