Candidate (R- San Diego) under investigation - RE 'Minute Men' group
Cochise County officials (AZ) investigating two men in the group after illegal file complaint. Seems that Bryan Barton, 24 and a candidate for Congress from San Diego, gave the illegal entrant $20 had him hold up a tee shirt that read:
"Bryan Barton Caught an Illegal Alien and all I got was this T-shirt"

http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/metro/69302.php

<snip> PALOMINAS - Cochise County officials said they are investigating two Minuteman volunteers after an illegal entrant complained Wednesday to authorities that he was held against his will.

<snip> Critics said the encounter is the first sign that the Minuteman Project is a "sham" meant to humiliate illegal entrants.

<snip> The incident started Wednesday afternoon when Barton, 24, and a second Minuteman volunteer encountered the illegal entrant on Arizona 92 near Palominas, Capas said.

<snip> Barton said he gave the man the T-shirt and $20 plus food and water. Then he filmed the man holding up the T-shirt.

OK, any questions about just what these bozos are trying to do here? A GOP congressional candidate shows up to defend the US border with a special tee shirt, printed with his name & exploits to use as a campaign prop Anybody still think they are just good patriots maintaining an American tradition? They are typical RW bots once again using the trappings of patriotic symbols to further their agenda. And their actions along the border are a hindrance to others trying to do their jobs. These are NOT the sort of chaps who made America great.

1. Let me get this straight Entering America without proper papers is a crime
This person who is also running for Representative gave a person committing a crime money, food and water. Isn't that aiding and abetting a crime?

2. My guess is Cochise County is gonna hit him with anything they can.
Yeah, I see a lot of things wrong with this picture.

Another thing that concerns me is the fact that illegal entrants come in both genders. There have been problems with regular, official border cops and females out in the frontier of the AZ desert. I cringe about the possibilities when the 'Minute Men' are thrown into the mix. This little event with Barton would suggest some may not be exercising the best judgment. Perhaps the sun is diminishing their mental faculties?

3. NOW THAT'S VIGILANTISM IF TRUE!
Holding a suspect against his will is vigilantism. No doubt about it whatsoever.

4. "Why are you picking on them?"
Minuteman organizer James Gilchrist defends white supremacists from Alan Colmes: "Why are you picking on them?"

Reacting to Fox News host Alan Colmes's reference to news reports that white supremacists may have joined the Minuteman Project's efforts to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the United States via the Mexican border, Minuteman organizer James Gilchrist condemned supremacists but contended that "there are supremacist groups out there of all races, colors and creeds" and accused Colmes of "picking on" the white supremacists. Gilchrist has acknowledged that "white supremacists want us to wage a full battle at the border," but has denied that he is a racist: "Some people have said I'm racist, and that's just not true. ... My son-in-law is a full-on Mexican, and my grandson is half-Mexican."
