Police Raid (Idaho) Club Over Nude "Art Night" (Reuters)
(This is an update from a previous story, I guess the Police didn't buy the sketch pads)

Police Raid Club Over Nude "Art Night"
Wed Apr 6, 2005 09:36 AM ET

BOISE, Idaho (Reuters) - An Idaho strip club that attempted to get around a ban on full nudity by giving patrons sketch pads for special "art nights" was cited for violating the city's nudity rules, officials said on Tuesday. The citation was issued on Monday night to the Erotic City Gentleman's Club in Boise, Idaho.

Boise allows full nudity for "serious artistic" expression only, so the club handed out pencils and sketch pads to patrons so they could sketch naked women.

A police spokeswoman said officials concluded, however, that patrons were not focused on art, so officers cited three dancers for violations of the city nudity ordinance. "The case is being reviewed by the Boise city attorney for the possibility of future citations," said spokeswoman Lynn Hightower.

Erotic City owner Chris Teague called the citations a violation of the civil rights of the dancers, as well as an "insult to the patrons." But the club would suspend 'art night' until the matter was settled in court.

6. Farts? I think you are confusing them with FLORIDA!
(The following is clipped from a "Dumb Laws" website)

Florida:
If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.

Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal.

When having sex, only the missionary position is legal.

>>>>You may not fart in a public place after 6 P.M. on Thursdays.<<<<<

It is considered an offense to shower naked.

You are not allowed to break more than three dishes per day, or chip the edges of more than four cups and/or saucers.

Oral sex is illegal.
......................................................................

Ok, the first one makes perfect sense to me, and the second seems like a self-correcting situation!
But those last 4?
WOW!
So who has NEVER broken these laws?

I mention this because I hope to see the day when _ALL_ the Xtianity-based 'Blue Laws' are relegated to History's dustbin,
and exist only on lists like this, where rational people can laugh at them.

THX to those folks selling Legal/Buisness Forms who used their extra bandwidth to include this:

4. PURITANISM (n) : The dread fear that someone, somewhere, may be HAPPY.
I am not into "strip clubs", but as long as everyone involved is an ADULT, I fail to see how ANY Governmental Agency has the right to interfere.

I might not be able to DEFINE "bullshit", but I know it when I see it.

9. Right To Interfere
Believe the U.S. Supreme Court said they can legally impose standards and restrictions. Don't know about today, but in the mid 60's prostitution was legal in two Idaho counties.

If I were a policeman, and had to waste my time busting people for this kind of thing, I'd turn in my badge.

7. I got phone polled about strip clubs...
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 01:16 AM by onager
...in freaking LOS ANGELES (where I live).

The idiots on the City Council were trying to ban lap dances.

The phone poll was one of the weirdest things I've ever heard. Every question worked "lap dances" into a list of questions like this:

Stopping which of the following is a good use of LAPD resources? You may choose one or more, or say "all the above:" violent street crime, burglary, vandalism, nude lap dancing, drunk driving...

After 4 or 5 of these, I butted in and asked the caller who the fuck she worked for. Judging by the questions, I suspected some gaggle of bible-thumping do-gooders who were pushing the ban.

She wouldn't tell me, but she finally yelled to somebody at her end of the phone: "He doesn't think the police should EVER interfere with lap dancing!"

She sounded disappointed.
