Red Lake Hero - badly injured, unable to speak - comforts friends/family
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 10:59 PM by mzmolly

NOTE THE PEACE SIGN IN THE PIC ABOVE

This is a very touching story, I suggest reading the entire article: *This boy is now unable to speak and is paralyzed on his left side. He communicates by writing notes to friends/family.

http://www.startribune.com/stories/156/5321739.html

Lying in his hospital bed in Fargo, partly paralyzed and with his face too damaged to show much emotion, Jeff May scribbled the tale of his shooting to his mother.

"I tried," he wrote. "I tried."

...

Her son hasn't lost his sense of humor, though. When visitors come, he poses as best he can for snapshots, sometimes flashing a peace sign and sometimes bumping fists with them.

He flirts with nurses, complete with a scribbled note to friends and family that read, "My nurses are sexy."

He tries to ease the pain others are feeling,
Jodi May said. In return, he gets the cold, hard truth about what is going on.

1. Thanks for this
I went to the link you had in your sig line to Red Lake the other day and read quite a few of the stories.

It's a very tragic event.

Indeed, it's sad. Then you read about a kid like this who is such a light in all the darkness, in spite of his suffering.

The last line really got me. I wanted to post, but didn't want to spoil the article so to speak.

6. Yes, that story will "getcha"
Definitely deserves to be told. Some people are such an inspiration in spite of mind boggling obstacles.
